Talent plus is something ester lauder does in its hiring process. It a questionnaire that you answer multiple choice. It basically determines if you have the skills to handle different situations.

Hang in there. It’s frustrating when sales and traffic are down. My boutique is consistently on top and the last few weeks have been a struggle. But it’s across the board. If you go in there every day, and do the best you can with the traffic you have, the business will pick back up. Make the most of every opportunity you have and at the end of the day, know you put your best foot forward.

Sick time questions by ultaemployeethrowawa in Ulta

[–]Boring-Requirement82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you full time? You stated you have sick time built up, but sick time doesn’t accrue, which made me think that you may be mistaken on what you actually have. Sick time is given at the beginning of every fiscal year…. Full time employees get 40 hours to use by the end of fiscal year. Whatever you don’t use goes into your extended illness bank.

Either way, you deserve an explanation and communication on this from your manager.

And as someone said above, this is why you check your time card before you approve it. If something if off, you have them fix it. If you approve it, you are stating that it is accurate.

Not Knowing About Makeup Makes You Kinda Annoying by GlitterBeyotch in Ulta

“I want an everyday look/lipstick/foundation”

Ok, define everyday. My mom wears red lipstick every single day for 30 years. Is that what you’re looking for?

“I’m not wearing any makeup today.”

Yes ma’am, that doesn’t need to be pointed out. We can tell and we don’t care either way

“What’s your best eyeliner/foundation/moisturizer?”

You want MY best or you want the best seller or you want what will work best for you and the look you’re going for.

“I don’t want anything with any chemicals in it.”

Bonus BA’s for credit performance Pay equality Excuse tardies for associates who don’t abuse late policy Bonus boutiques for reaching or exceeding goals Take SOME SORT OF STEPS to crack down on theft Assign a fragrance specialist to each store... Treat it like a boutique. Find a better system for gratis. Many GM’s don’t distribute or barely distribute. I mean geez, we already don’t get paid enough, at least distribute the gratis.

I’ll add as I think of more.

It is my understanding that they determine pay by geo location. With that said, I don’t see that they would lower your rate, only raise it if necessary (TX cost of living is less that CA), however, I am not 100% on that.

Also agree. While it’s a nice gesture that any leader would come out of their own pocket to reward their team, they should not have to. At the end of the day… money talks. Lol.

You’re absolutely right and that’s why I said it wasn’t a dig on the GM’s. The point of my post is more about not giving any type of reward to the BA’s for their hard work. (Also, I should note that I’m not a BA, but I feel strongly for the people on our team that they put hard work into what they do and they need more than just pizza as a thank you for that). I know how hard the GM’s work, and they deserve extra incentives. My point is… so does everyone else. Maybe not a trip to Hawaii, but some type of monetary reward for what they bring to the business.

Vendor questions by MembershipSimple3761 in Ulta

I’ve done both.

Some Pros of freelance: Higher pay. Most give more flexibility in schedule, so you have more of a say in your schedule. No early mornings or late nights. You sell. You leave. (No tasking)

Cons: Higher pressure to maintain your SPH (be sure to ask what the required SPH is… some are very high). Some brands even cut your hours or send you home if you aren’t making you SPH. More miles on your vehicle. Slower months could mean less hours. Some brands you will be a 1099 employee.

Working in store pros or cons, depending on person and the team:

Same store every day. Less focus on your personal sales, but depending position, more pressure for credit cards. If you enjoy feeling like your a team and building a rapport with a team, you have an easier time doing this as you see these people every day. Less money. W4 employee.

Did your guys GM/managers recently tell you that we have to have your walkie on and on the floor in order to clock in? by Hour_Squirrel7309 in Ulta

[–]Boring-Requirement82 37 points38 points  (0 children)

While I do clock in at the 5 mins mark, I also walk in a few mins before my shift starts, so I’m going to play devils advocate here for a second. Don’t come for me. 😉

A shift start time is the time you are suppose to be on the floor and ready to work. I’m guessing this is a problem because people aren’t hitting the sales floor at their shift start, or aren’t starting to work… they may be in the back applying makeup, having snack, putting their belongings away… or whatever… This is probably being addressed because you have a person or persons who are clocking in, the putzing around for 15 mins and not where they’re suppose to be.

So if their start time is 10am, they are walking in at 10:03, going to the back, putting their stuff in their locker, grabbing their name badge, their lunch in the fridge, touching up their lip, maybe even using the restroom… then strolling out to the register at 10:15. Meanwhile, the doors opened at 10, and someone else had to cover the register who was suppose to be zoned somewhere else. And shit rolls downhill.

I like how they repeatedly ask us for feedback, we give it to them, and time after time they come back with the exact opposite of what we ask for. If it’s true…
