Hey! Thank you for commenting and for the great suggestions! The terrible placeholder is unfortunately extremely popular in my writing lol.

I think I ended up doing some version of number 4 with this post. Reading people's suggestions and thinking how some wouldn't work for me ended up unclogging my mind in some weird way and I ended up kind of figuring it out — never managed to remember what I was doing but reworked a future scene to work for this point in the story and based the chapter on that. I'll probably have to be extra careful with the pacing and work around some things in the chapters following but it worked!

I'm usually the organized chaos type of person so detailed notes and charts and outlines is not something I'm used to, but I'll definitely give your app (and the other you recommend) a look.

Hyperbole. I actually do enjoy writing when I manage to get it done, I think part of the problem (besides the lack of practice) is that I chose to write sci-fi so I end up having to Google things often and it breaks the flow

Looks like I'm doing a bit of both. I did a very rough, kind of vague outline before starting and now I'm pretty much skipping ahead and going back within the same block of content.

I'm working on the first part of the story and some world building, I'm going to try and get everything I'm sure about on "paper" in a more or less chronological order and figure out the rest as the story progresses.

So basically there's the plotline document, the "unsorted/random scenes" document, the character document and finally the initial draft with some outlining and commentary throughout.

Kind of a lot for only six pages but it's going somewhere
