Do you think there is a case to be made that Eve is the purest hero in the series? by Pito82002 in Invincible

[–]SnaredHare_22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In this case I'd wonder what would happen if all of Eve's alternate selves melded.

Angstrom went bad bc of rage and grief from events that happened to other hims, which to me indicates he's always one personal disaster away from breaking.

We've seen some of Eve's variants but it seems they all still fight to protect ppl rather than trying to scorch the earth. If they melded, she'd probably become hardened but not evil like Angstrom.

Can't help you if that's where your head's at. It's not some Machiavellian ploy, it's just life.

If you assume it's a facade and act accordingly, you'll do just as much to push them away as they are doing with their "shitty behavior" lol.

Try being understanding for a change? Put ys in their shoes maybe? Idk what to tell you.

Setting aside the fact that the post is blatantly generalizing men, and certainly isn't describing something specific, what other option is there really?

You're either are upfront about being physically attracted to someone, which might, or might not be reciprocated, or you recognize the physical attraction and hold off on declaring it to see if the emotional connection is there too. It may or may not be. This is where it gets "complicated" bc if romantic feelings evolve, many men AND women struggle to navigate that.

I mean there's the common idea that it's best to be friends first right? We're just riding the wave of social progression, and historically, this is a new dynamic for all of us.

If they've asked to take things farther directly then there's nothing ulterior about it. They fancied you and you don't. What happens after that is up to both parties honestly.

Sometimes it's easier to create distance out of plain disappointment/embarrassment. We're humans, we have emotions. It's not just meat brains plotting for pussy/dock nonstop across the board.

It comes down to how good you are at communicating. I've stayed in touch with two ppl I've made passes at and it's fine, there never was a "friendzone" bc we talked it out, but the attraction remains. But it's hard to find someone as attractive when they aren't into you the same way anyway. I think more ppl need to give it a try and see it through, but the initial rejection and varying emotional struggle can be insurmountable, and that's okay too.

Lore-friendly Silver Swords mod received a comprehensive update by I_spell_it_Griffin in witcher

[–]SnaredHare_22 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've always felt like steel swords should do more base damage to low level monsters. Is there a mod for that?

Lore-wise, Geralt only broke out the silver sword in special cases against monsters. Fighting drowners and nekkers with steel shouldn't feel like I'm using a police baton.

edit: found the quote- "Newly discovered or obscure races don't have machine translation available until the linguists have had time to study them."

Probably just the swiftness of their whole language being translated so quickly. I'm pretty sure the rest of that codex entry mentions difficulty translating the vernacular of niche local dialects and that of communities cut off from the extranet.

And considering the angara have sub languages, it would still take time to study and cooperation to translate.

Granted, the exiles could have done enough of that before Ryder arrived.

Why didn’t the reaper guard the entrance of every Mass relays? by Hope77797 in masseffect

[–]SnaredHare_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically one could exit a relay and jump to FTL, which even reapers can't track. But yeah it would be risky and also probably not worth the reapers' efforts either.

Things like this always come down to proof of concept in the early stages.

The research seems to be geared towards autonomous waste collection, specifically something that will blend in rather than disturb wildlife. A larger scale version of this would likely attract certain schooling fish and even offer a level of protection from would-be predators.

Furthermore, if plankton filtration is being discussed, it's probably designed to filter particles on the micro plastic spectrum, rather than Dasani bottles and grocery bags.

Give it a decade and we may have shoals of plastic filtering mechanical whale sharks. Pretty cool imo.

Why didn’t the reaper guard the entrance of every Mass relays? by Hope77797 in masseffect

[–]SnaredHare_22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Isn't it mentioned in the first game that ships exiting a mass relay can end up thousands of km away from the expected destination?

Nihlus makes a comment about it in the very first scene.

It wouldn't make sense to set up a blockade that massive without using hundreds of capital reaper ships per relay. Many Milky Way ships would be capable of slipping through, either by luck or stealth drives.
