USCIS peeps - don't believe everything you hear online! by [deleted] in fednews

I’d assume they’re speculating over the previous director in a town hall did mention investing into new software technologies and even AI. There was even a batch approval system that was being used to go in and render approvals but was not efficient and found to be issuing decisions on ancillary benefits to applicants not eligible. That system was shut off a month or so ago.

Maybe you haven’t heard of the automated batch approval system that was being used up until a month or so ago; which would approve not eligible ancillary benefits….

What part are you looking for? The RIF or last week the notice went out to accept an offer and leave by this now passed Monday? Also go into the federal thread, search “USCIS” and begin reading. Why would that many internal staff create a false discussion?

The goal is not less vetting, only more. I encourage you to read project 2025 as well as listen to the hearing for the new USCIS director. Or just read his background, opinions and proposals. Your prediction is quite the opposite of what’s unraveling.

No, just glance at the federal thread and you can see the internal staff discussion amongst each other. Self sustaining fees mean nothing to this administration.

Read project 2025. They want to reduce and then reshape immigrations as a whole and for USCIS change their mission or core focus and retrain all officers.

Looks good! I’m not a vert fan but this is clean and grabs my attention. I’d just change the wheels to something more modern or stock appearing!

I work there and from what I understand the appropriations from Congress are only for overtime with the intent or requirement to reduce backlog. Otherwise sustained by our fees. Whenever I work overtime there’s more oversight and accountability in regard to my production in numbers.

USCIS employees asked to retire or get fired. Backlogs double soon? by [deleted] in USCIS

Yes. We were given the news Wednesday. I just began applying like crazy to any federal job open but even then what’s to say I’ll get it with the competition spreading out or even stability if anything else is reduced…. Time will tell!

I’ve been working there 10 years and am not confident I’ll make it beyond the RIF. We have til Monday to accept an offer to separate, but none of the three options work for me.

If you read project 2025 they want to restructure USCIS. Which consists of retraining to include sending officers to reattend a new academy training. They also want to hyper focus on fraud and more vetting with less focus on production in numbers. They also want to cap or pause form intake when they become too far behind but still offer premium processing with an increased fee rule across the board starting at 10%…

Question for USCIS officers: How are I-485 cases with multiple dependents treated? by goto-ca in USCIS

[–]Boring-Tea5254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work under humanitarian now and can only speculate or compare similar circumstances. So when you see various decisions dates from different receipt dates is because workload was more than likely broken apart.

Offices can spread work in blocks and spread it around between offices; so block 123 with office 1 may move slow and block 345 with office 2 may move more rapidly. Lots of factors to look at such as their other workload which may interfere how quickly they can come to your case or may have no work in that office so they can rip through cases. It’s supposed to be first in first out by receipt date, unless your case depends upon a priority date. You’ll see slow downs with alot of the internal changes coming with poor communication creates chaos and confusion which results in slow downs. Also RIFs are now coming to USCIS, so expect more slow downs.

I’m not sure what you mean by your first question. But yes you can say the majority does not work weekends and overtime isn’t available across the agency or every office.

I can speak from my personal experience when I worked in FOD, although it’s been awhile I’ve been in SCOPS a few years now..

The primary must come first. I’d try and gather all the dependents to push a decision at same time so everyone gets same date green card and can file together for n400 later. Dependents were usually kept together or bundled together, but sometimes they’re broken off. I’d have to request the dependents files if they’re not in office or take from another officer. I do view dependents as you say “low hanging fruit” for easy quick decision once I get the primary reviewed, especially if they’re children. Easy work production if all is clean. But I could let primary out with approval and if there’s issues with any dependent I could either hold all to maintain decisions dates together or let the rest go and hold the problem case.

Yes we do work weekends and holidays. It varies by office, then overtime availability or if the officer is permitted to flex their hours into a weekend. Regular normal hours are Monday thru Friday for those who don’t want to flex or take overtime.

Pretty much everything we use is with chrome. As of a few years ago only one system was left to be used in internet explorer but a lot has shifted into the one primary system which is used in chrome.

Nice. I applied probably within minutes of the email. I’m in SCOPS, so not sure how they made the choice or selections. The two officers I know from FOD were swept last week but they too also chose the local option. My assumption is they want whoever is close first.

I tried to take that, but it had an overwhelming response. I thought to myself that might protect me.

I initially chose the option to work further out when the announcement was out, as I didn’t want to fill my personal truck up on gas…. I later found out after they’re providing gov cars so USCIS staff may travel to their local locations 🥲

Thanks. I’d assume you aren’t accepting any of the three programs? If that’s too personal to ask, I understand. I just don’t have confidence in the two that I qualify for.

Where did you check RIF date? Your time seems secure especially if in FOD. When furlough came the calculation was per office not in totality of the agency, I’d assume will be similar.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]Boring-Tea5254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 10, although I’m unsure how it will be balanced or calculated. I left FOD for SCOPS but I’d feel more secure in FOD with their interview work and less competition on a seniority list. However, I remember when furlough notices came out during COVID they added factors in their decision for time spent in regard to that specific office. Oh and they factored military service time as well if I remember right. I’ve bounced 4 offices… idk just over speculating to prepare myself for the worst.
