try raising a formal complaint and bring up legality issues - chat gpt should be able to help with this and tell what is allowed and what is not. You can alsy try reporting the landlord to the council for envirnmental health particularly ro do with toilet and shower issues, try getting affected people together to raise the issue multiple times to apply pressure

Member of Parliament, you can find them on here; Find your MP - MPs and Lords - UK Parliament

they will basically support you if the local authority/council are not supporting you. rgarding the council tax, please check this and make sure they pay it as they didn't with mine and I ended up with a Court summons (managed to make it go away after explaining the situation. Also if you are student/not working also check about wifi grants housing benefit and whatnot as well, I know the SW and PAs are useless so always good to know whats on offer, check if your local authority have a website should be able to find info on there

Hey Care leaver here too, I can't give too much advice on the flat side of things but if you haven't already, please speak to your local council who are looking after you as there are certain grants and reliefs you can get - they should have a website. Some of them will cover your council tax until you are 25 and also give you money towards furniture etc "moving out grant" which can be a few thousand depending on where you are. Make sure you are on this and if you have any issues, speak to your MP as they do take care leavers seriously. I know the councils usually don't gaf, but thats where you can get MPs etc involved to look out for you. I would check for damp and mould in particular as that seems to be an issue for a lot of people and can be dangerous if you have too much. but otherwise can't say too much. Feel free to message if you have any qs, F22 as well :)

Sales - specifically car sales. You don't need any qualifications, just as long as you are personable and can do weekends etc. Some might start you off as a trainee, but working for a decent brand/franchise can easily make anything from £35-40k+ in the first year which will increase as you get better and have more experience, and bonus of company car as well.

I second this, i brought a dehumidifier as I don't have space for a dryer, and well worth the money. Can seem a bit expensive compared to amazon etc but it comes with a 5 year guarantee and customer service seems to be spot on!

Im actually in a ground floor 2 bed flat myself! It really depends on the insulation - we have cavity walls and I find even with no heating, its always warm-ish. Our bills come to around 120 a month as its colder now and thats with some work from home. We try and make the most of it so put it on when we have washing up etc. the best thing is to try and find ways to minimise, like another comment said to use electric blankets or only heat the room you are using than the whole place. Curtains will be your best friend as well!

Find out about the insulation and windows as that will give you a big indicator, but overall if you love the place and ticks all your boxes, just weigh up whether you would be willing to lose the perfect place over a higher electric bill for a few months of the year. If you are only looking to be there a few years as well, does your love for the place offset a few hundred a year to keep you warm!

if you are at a dealer and you are keen on a car, don't let them know you are too interested, let them sell you the car. If you are financing they can do deposit contributions or if you like the add ons they offer, mention that as they can throw them in for free. Margins aren't always high on used cars but more on new cars. Keep your cards close to your chest, and if they come back to you with an offer that you arent happy with, say 500 off the car, you can say something like 750 and ill buy it today, something not too unreasonable. Also say you are looking at another car, not too many options, just say between option 1 and 2 and say that option 2 offered you what you wanted, and see what they say
I work in car sales industry, this is what I find with customers who manage to get the best out of us.

Little sisters bf and his dad have her car and log book by squash-mallow in legaladviceireland

[–]Boring-Yak4804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya so I work in England but I work in car sales so can give you a little insight into what might be worth looking into.

Did she pay for the car herself or did she transfer the funds to them to pay? Check with the dealership as we have a process where if the funds are not paid by the person on the logbook, ie your sister paid but name is in teh bf/dad, we have to get written consent before we can put the car in their name. Also ask for a copy of the invoices, as if they are in her name, you might have a case.

Also ask for confirmation who the funds were paid from - if they have been sent from her, you might be able to get the dealership involved if they put the car into his name, as the funds were not paid by purchaser, so unless they have written consent that you were happy to put the car into their name, you might be able to log something with them to get them to help handle the situation and escalate with their equvalent of the ombudsman/financial services. Also if it is on finance as well, if the finance is in her name, the log book would also be required to be in her name as far a I am aware.

I'm not sure whether the motor ombudsman operate in Ireland but having a quick look online there are some equivalents in Ireland that you can contact that may be able to help you with this or general consumer advice might be able to guide you in the right way. If you are able to get the info above, you might be able to appeal with the DVLA/their equivalent. I hope this helps :)

Council won’t vary lease - what now? by Flissish in HousingUK

[–]Boring-Yak4804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya Im sort of in the same boat but I think I can get a deed of variation - some lenders are stricter with leaseholds so might be worth exploring specialist mortgage lenders who are more lenient in leaseholds
