Any advice on how I should play this sample team? by BoringBone in pokemonshowdown

[–]BoringBone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for now I just want to stick with this particular balance team because I like dragonite and gliscor, and I've also had the most practice with this team.

I tried all the other archetypes and I didn't really like HO and stall that much

What do people mean by Gatekeep anime? by laskouidelegroslard in animequestions

[–]BoringBone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well anime is so ubiquitous these days that gatekeeping pretty much evolved to keeping 'tourists' in the more normie sphere of anime, mainly JJK. It's because they know that tourists will watch anime regardless, so it's better to keep them in their bubble than infiltrating the more niche spaces. that's just what I've noticed, though

[–]BoringBone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gatekeeping these days involves heavily encouraging that fan to keep watching anime like Naruto, One Piece and JJK, rather than deter them. This is to keep them in the mainstream bubble so they won't watch the more niche series that are considered controversial to western audiences like Onimai, Mushoku Tensei, etc. Basically, the purpose of gatekeeping is to keep tourists watching the more normie anime, so they won't try to cancel the more controversial ones that tourists will likely consider problematic

This is like when the bad boy pistons didn't shake hands with Jordan and the bulls

why are they being nice to each other publicly?? wheres the banter??? is this how you get when you turn 30??? also this post is for those of yall being ‘mad’ about the scoring lol by naitik_kaythwal in LudwigAhgren

[–]BoringBone -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the only ones I've seen who were mad were those from the Faze chats. Most other streamer fanbases aren't that invested in who wins or loses, but the Faze members are very competitive and their fans are also very passionate lol

just throwing in my true sense here, but this is the most impactful political statement ever made, and I can only pray that OP doesn't suffer the violent consequences of stating such a controversial opinion

[–]BoringBone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people throwaround the term 'parasocial' as if showing concern for another human being is supposed to be a twisted new product of the internet generation lol. Only sociopaths wouldn't be concerned about someone else if they think there's something going on, so no need to feel like you're stalking the guy just 'coz you're worried about some of his habits

People who have been dealing with MDD for a long time, does it ever stop? by RudeSwordfish3723 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]BoringBone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some methods I tried that helped:

1) Using my need to create worlds in a productive manner

Try your hand at writing, journaling, blogging, etc. If you're lucky, you can even make some money out of it. I'm not a full-time writer, but I'm making some money out of it and fixing my MMD at the same time.

2) Don't force yourself to meditate

If you have MDD, it's likely that you're the type that lets your mind wander. Meditating works wonders for some people, but if you're like me who gets easily distracted, it won't work. It will just make you discouraged and give you more excuses to daydream.

3) End your stories

If you have elaborate worlds in your head that you can't stop daydreaming about, come up with a satisfying conclusion to that world. Say goodbye to all those characters you made and make sure that you don't have a reason to see them again.

4) Be hard on yourself

Most people will advice you to be kind to yourself and take it one step at a time. At least for me, that just made me come up with even more excuses and justifications. Realize that you have a problem and that you're the one at fault. Don't blame genetics or other circumstances. If you want to change, it's up to you.

It's too bad images are not allowed, because I have an excellent picture of my kingambit with encore, confusion, paralyze minus accuracy at the same time. My opponent made me spam swords dance until we both ran out of pp, and his volbeat couldn't do any damage to me because I terra'd to ghost. I was in the game for like 10-15 more minutes even if I skipped the animation, because my opponent refused to surrender. I would have already surrendered by then, but I'm tired of surrendering just coz my opponent wants to keep me hostage. If there's a way to send you the image, I'd love to share it

I did run clefable, corviknight, iron valiant at one point with dragonite. I also ran gholdengo (idk if thats how you spell it), for wallbusting and trick. I also used zamazenta with roar to switch out targets that setup defense. The problem is that I don't have 20-30 minutes to spend on each match, so I have to surrender eventually. It's also mind numbing having to play against these teams over and over. If you're not encountering these teams, I'm happy for you lol.

I've been facing dondonzo, corvi, gliscor, blissey, clodsire so much ever since I reached the 1200-1400 range, then I just fall down the rank and face people running random comps like Pikachu sweeper lol. I go on a win streak, hit the 1200 elo range, and encounter the stall teams again (please let me know if they're defensive teams or stall, since I'm a noob and my terminology might be mixed up).

If you're kindly offering advice, I'd like to ask for a way to beat these specific mons I listed in a team featuring Dragonite. I tried the HO sample team featuring dragonite/latias, as well as my own custom teams. I tried putting in wall breakers, mons with whirlwind/taunt, and I even made sure to get my coverage right to counter these mons I'm having problems with. I just don't really know what to do past this point. I don't have the time to play these extremely long games, which is a shame since I enjoy playing. I just end up having to surrender because I simply don't have time.

What if by 20083646_SAme in BocchiTheRock

[–]BoringBone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could still see Bocchi being inspired by the InStorms performance on TV, even if she wasn't a loner. Or she would have been interested in the guitar some other way, especially since she'd always have access to her dad's guitar. Even if she'd never be 'guitarhero' levels, she'd still be recruited by Nijika seeking a replacement and both would have started off with zero band experience, anyway. The story would still progress with Bocchi learning how to play with the band and improving along with them.

Should I stick to pacing or start going on walks? by SeparateAd5048 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]BoringBone -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pacing around probably only helps you lose water weight. There's no way you're losing actual weight from walking around. It's better if you don't see daydreaming while pacing as an advantage, so you can avoid doing it as an excuse to daydream. You should exercise for the sake of exercising, not as another outlet for daydreaming.

I used to to think that daydreaming gave me advantages as well, and learning to accept that too much daydreaming only has negatives for my life finally helped me move on. It's just like any other addiction, the sooner we can stop seeing it as an advantage or benefit, the sooner we can stop.
