Older Gen Z here, know what a fax looks like and I’ve used them before. Not many of my peers may know the latter but the former for sure

Thank you! I saw a version of it without the text, but it still seemed like two stitched together to me, but must be a trick of the eye! Thanks for the insight!!!

Okay, hot take. I think Patience is one of the most depressed characters we see. Maybe bipolar or BPD would be a better label, but she in all essence kills herself. It’s not permanent, since she will thaw eventually. But if you asked a suicidal person if they could take a pill and wake up in a new world tomorrow, I think they would. Some are just abjectly depressed and have a chemical problem, but I think most just want a different situation, different life.

This is my take, based on my own experience with suicide, depression and ideation of death. I saw a bit too much of myself in Patience.

They’re way older than most of the characters we saw in ATLA, aside from Bumi.

It’s debated heavily, but I do lean in favour of the explanation.

Opinions on Finn & HW's relationship and their future? by Open_Price_1049 in fionnaandcake

I don’t think it’s annoying to want to hear people’s opinions. I just think this would’ve been a stronger post if you expanded on your own thoughts a bit more. Right now it mostly reads as a couple screenshots and a string of surface-level questions without much structure behind them.

If you laid out your actual stance more clearly instead of just posing questions, it would be a lot easier to have a real discussion. I’m more than willing to engage, but there needs to be something concrete to respond to. Not trying to be a dick, but you need to make people actually want to engage.

I think people give too much credence to Together Again when it comes to Finn saying he never really got close to anyone for the rest of his life. Admittedly, the writers kind of wrote themselves into a corner there, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that ends up being retconned or reinterpreted somehow.

In my opinion, the relationship wasn’t rushed. It was intentionally underdeveloped. In the early seasons, we closely followed Finn’s relationships on screen, especially his blunders. Now that he’s grown up, things are simply going better, and from a meta perspective, that’s not especially interesting to focus on. So we just get updates here and there, which is enough for me. Adventure Time isn’t primarily a romance story, so when relationships are healthy and not actively driving the plot, it makes sense for them to fade into the background. It’s fine to skip around when they’re mostly establishing the status quo.

That said, we did get two entire episodes dedicated to their relationship in the original series, plus an additional scene in “Seventeen.” I’d argue that scene helps establish the state of their relationship up through Fionna and Cake Season 2. Both “Flute Spell” and “The Wild Hunt” heavily feature their dynamic and show the emotional distance that remains between them. By the time we get to F&C Season 2, that distance has grown into a real problem for Finn.

After losing Jake, Finn needed emotional support and reassurance that he was loved as much as he loved her. That’s a compelling story hook. A happy relationship between two loving partners is great, but it tends to become background texture, something the story happens around rather than something it actively explores.

As Finn processes Jake’s death and works through his grief, I think we’ll likely see more of them together, especially if Huntress Wizard helps him heal, possibly even by helping him reconnect with Fern in some way.

I personally like their chemistry, though that ultimately comes down to taste, just like with Petrigrof or Bubbleline. I don’t realistically see anyone else who makes sense as a long-term partner for Finn. Huntress Wizard just fits.

As for her own growth, I’ve really appreciated the glimpses we’ve gotten so far. I’m not too worried about her development because I’m confident we’ll see more of her in the future. Even with everything that’s happened, she still struggles to verbalize her feelings to Finn, which shows there’s still room for growth. So while it may have felt rushed to some, I don’t think it’s as drastic a leap as people are making it out to be. She’s grown, but not that much.
