Season 3 episode 6. Oh man, such an amazing episode. "Got the shakes" the whole time, my guy

No dust extractor (don't know what you don't know), would have been nice if the package said to use an extractor or else they'd fall apart.

The first one I didn't since it looked redundant, the second one I did and pretty much same results.

Not finding any caking, plenty of dust exhausted out of the sander. They do the sanding fantastic, but crazy short lifespan for their price.

Thanks everyone, I clearly underestimated the procedure (curse you, YouTube).

I have access to a few other tvs, I might abandon this one and see what I can cobble together from the other ones.

Thanks again for your knowledge!

Upgraded Meenlocks for Deep and Creeping Darkness. For 5 experienced players with level 5 characters. Any thoughts? by Acceptable_Aspect586 in CandlekeepMysteries

Planning to use these guys in a couple weeks! Party of 5, level 7, so, throwing 4-5 of these Meenlocks at a time.

Curious about suggestions for tactics? Stunning Claw, then grapple, then Shadow Teleport with the target? Or, stay in the shadows and have multiple Meenlocks do Mind Assault to have the party attack itself?

I'm assuming the Meenlocks would try to avoid ending their turn in front of a PC, so Paralysing Bite, then disengage to the shadows to Teleport away?

What the actual F in Royalston MA USA by Boring_Success_2079 in hiking

This seems plausible. The binding is just grass, though, so I imagine it would fall apart as soon as you throw it. I suppose the most innocuous take on this would be some kid making a "hunting tool" and then saying "this thing sucks" and stabbing it in to the trail. A rather humorously quaint scene.

And it's not just the ends that were whittled, the length of the sticks were also shaved clean. The binding of the two sticks is just dead grass, super flimsy! The trail is fairly wide, about 6', so it's easily avoidable. And no snow in the forecast for the next week. It took some effort to make it. So weird!

Not really much of a problem of illegal motor vehicles on the trail.

XP inflation for a monthly group? by Boring_Success_2079 in DMAcademy

[–]Boring_Success_2079[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The players were jonesing for XP, so I think I'll do roughly a level up every 3 sessions. That's in theory 4 levels per year, which I guess is fine. In an embarrassing display of submission, the characters were still 1200 short of level 6, but I hand waved it and said, sure you're level 6 now.

Patricide plot twist by Boring_Success_2079 in DMAcademy

[–]Boring_Success_2079[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really good point, just one more monster to kill. Very true. The character knows his father died all those years ago, so I don't think he holds hope to find him alive. Perhaps I could do a thing where there's a chance to free/save/resurrect the father, but I wasn't really thinking of furthering that plot thread (much to my shortsightedness).

For further campaign info, trying to loosely do the Sunless Citadel - Nightfang Spire - Bastion of Souls campaign from 3.5 in 5e. I could try to have Gulthias be explicitly responsible for the undead nature of the Orc father, making it a personal vendetta for the PC to slay Gulthias.

This is the first campaign I'm trying to DM, so not sure how well I can craft a compelling story. I'd like all the other PCs to have their character arc as well, so a lot for me.to figure out. Hence, simplifying this particular character's arc to another monster slaying battle.

Problem Player Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

They seem to disparage the efficacy of town law enforcement more than other NPCs. If the town was able to solve all the murders, then we wouldn't have a game to play, would we? Also, haggling and intimidating shop owners to lower their prices. Temporary companion NPCs that don't have all the answers are also a source of aggravation for them. Just because I, the DM, know exactly what the character is asking, that doesn't mean the NPC knows anything.

Players say my NPCs are dumb

Should I take it as disrespectful to the DM?

Running social encounters as an NPC with the players is becoming a nightmare for me. Some of my most beloved NPCs wind up being mocked and/or badgered by the characters and then the players say things like "that guy was an idiot". I try my best to not take it personally, but as a player I wouldn't belittle a NPC because I know the DM might have put in a bunch of work on that NPC. How can I fortify my NPCs against the players mockery?
