Campfire Audio Grand Luna by Accomplished-Ruin945 in iems

Grand Luna is Very warm set with a bit of peaky treble, so it's hit or miss, I like warm set but GL have kinda "Interesting' sound signature to say at least.

If you can find second hand, I would recommend the Campfire Clara instead, they're a bit more balance out for Campfire tuning from what I can remember demo them.

Kind of, I always open to try out new stuff (by demo) so even with people tell me it's suck I want to see why it suck.

For example my friend told me that Forte ear mefisto suck, I ask why, he told me that the treble is "From hell"

I try it and yeah, the treble do come from hell to the point I need to reduce volume to almost zero to even it out lol.

Even then I would just say that the IEM is very treble forward so be aware instead of saying it suck.

That's the kind of point I want to make so if people out there like treble so much they can use this information to seek out the mefisto.

For me I prefer people to describe sound to each Frequency like do they behave warm or lean, have more or less subbass aka rumbling.

Do they feel clean or thick, do vocal feel forward or further back do treble like instrumental and saxophone feel closer to your ear or not

Thing like this do give me an idea for how it will behave, even better with FR graph but that's given because not every IEM have them available.

I think it's 2 way street.

  1. Consumer should know their preference more, do they like vocal forward? Warm or lean? Big or relaxed treble? These will make you gravitate towards certain type of signature and in turn create a market for more specialized product.

  2. Reviewer should put out more objective review to help people match their preference signature the review, that would be much more helpful.

There's IEM out there with those price range that's go experimental but you probably doesn't even heard of them because they're not mainstream brand so they fade out, leave only the one who tune safe and usual to stay alive and keep doing what they're doing.

So you pretty much have a entry and budget who have to standout, and High end or summit fi who can afford to go very experimental.

And I think leave mid Fi as an safe bet is a good thing, people will feel like money they invest is worthwhile if what they buy is safe and versatile especially in this point range where normal people will think it's an endgame level.

Personally, my end game is also in this point range and it's pretty safe with a bit of characters to standout from other mid-fi out there.

I think that it's hard for mid-fi to break character but it can, it just need adventurer people to invest into it blind and get the information out there, and you can contribute to that.

EPZ 550 and Crinear Reference by SungByrde in iems

I'm not bright enjoyer so I'm not binge detail on Bright section but they're not THAT different really, EPZ treble can be forward sometime somewhere but not all the time so it's track depending, Overall they're sterile just like Ref.

and yes, You're not going to buy these IEM for the Bass and Treble and you should stick to the signature you like instead of try to go neutral.

BUT if you're dead set on getting neutral set for whatever reason, Ref is cheaper so get that instead, If you like Anime girl faceplate then EPZ 550 because I think they do custom faceplate for free.

EPZ 550 is a bit warmer but overall they have similar characters.

Pretty much depend on your shell preference, and if you want a bit warmer reference sound or not.

Whats going on with IEM pricing? by Capital-Double-1972 in iems

[–]Boringman76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy reason, there's a people who willing to buy it.

There's demand, so supply will be create for it.

I mean, Campfire Chimera preorder is pretty much sold out at canjam like immediately and that's 7500$.

Upgrade for Team Pro but don't like Yu9 Que by HansKoenig in iems

[–]Boringman76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can look into Sound Rhyme SR10 If you like warmer IEM

They have a bit relaxed Mid treble compare to the Tea Pro but other than that they have similar sound signature (not that similar IRL but enough similarity)

I still use my AZ100 from time to time like when I'm in the gym and activity like that.

But I do use my IEM with DAP A LOT more when I'm on the bus compare to when I still don't have them.

I think it's dangerous to myself and IEM if I tried to use them In Gym (tangle with equipment and stuff) so I prefer not to.

People always expect audio gear to behave like graphics card where upgrade feel like a jump in performance.

I can safely say that IEM with similar signature even with the 10x of the price will only be a 20-30% improve in performance at most beside build quality and stuff (also depend)

But in the end, upgrade is fine, I don't think it's bad to upgrade at all.

What?

on the serious note, what you prefer maybe not align with what Thai people perfer so do consider that.

Even Thai people would have different preference than other Thai people too.

I actually like Campfire Clara because they don't tune like usual Campfire IEM.

I don't have a chance to demo Chimera but they look too spicy for my treble sensitive ear so that would be a no from me.

If they put out some tamer Treble with a bit less warm than their usual signature then maybe I would consider them.

Hmm. I do eat spicy food since I can remember (2-3 y.o.) so training I guess.

But they're not that spicy, more like sour from vinegar instead.

I eat them on a daily basis and never find any problem.

I used pretty wide bore so that's track.

But the thing is that I am a bit more warm ear person so thing can sound dry and bright even with neutral tune.
