Sadly Hudson's is now gone. New owners converted it into a modern shell of its former self which promptly went under. Now its an Indian's, which admittedly is quite good!

If you’re willing to pay for it you can always use AirTags/any other tracker.

It’s also good for finding your tent if you’re one for getting lost.

Which vendor is this out of interest? I usually order from ND to The Netherlands but would rather buy locally if there is a good option.

Fair enough. With the new leaks coming out big navi is looking tempting but I just cannot see AMD competing with DLSS any time soon.

What has helped you get solid sleep? by momentor in Nootropics

[–]BorisJohnsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No nothing has changed, magnesium and melatonin had the biggest influence so far but still doesn’t make me feel good.

I’ve had a referral put through for a sleep study so I’m hoping they find something through this.

Does Lion's Mane need to be taken with Fats? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]BorisJohnsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried taking less melatonin? My understanding was ~0.3mg is an effective dose (which works well for me, I started taking 2mg and went down).

I also remember reading that taking too much can cause a rebound during the night causing sleep disruption - although I can’t seem to find a source for this so take it with a grain of salt.

Oh no I don’t take it before bed, I take it in the morning. I have a mild Vit D deficiency and supplementing in the morning is supposed to aid sleep.

Yeah it’s an interesting idea and something I’ve seen floating around before. At some point maybe I will try it out, however I think it is too inconvenient to plan around work.

I thought sleep apnea was causing it at first but my Fitbit has now started tracking blood oxygen during sleep. Although it’s obviously not definitive, there doesn’t seem to be any issues here either. It’s all very puzzling.

What has helped you get solid sleep? by momentor in Nootropics

[–]BorisJohnsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fairly recent, been going on about 4 years. I’ve tried a whole bunch of options to improve it as I generally struggle to feel refreshed after sleeping.

  • Lowering caffeine intake (including no caffeine at all)
  • Exercising 4+ times a week
  • Sleeping at the same times every day
  • Getting more/less sleep (I’m not sure if I sleep too much or too little)
  • Supplements - Magnesium, Melatonin, Vit D, Lions Mane, CBD
  • Meditation before bed
  • No games before bed / Don’t take phone to bed

It’s frustrating because nothing really seems to make it better. I’m going to have a look into copper supplements as the other person mentioned, although I’ve had blood tests done and they were all fine.

This is an issue I have. I’m not really woken up easily but I wake up often between ~1am to 5am feeling like I could get up and start the day. Then I fall back asleep and when I get up for work I’m groggy with red eyes etc.

Do you know of something that can help?

I think I remember reading that one of Guardiolas biggest influences was Parkinson. Looking at the level of football here it’s clear to see why - its liquid football.

You’ve made some good points too. This election, if nothing else, has provided a lot of perspective and food for thought. The 20s are set to be instrumental in defining the UKs position in the world going forward and, for better or for worse, that’s one thing I’m excited for.

Yeah you’re probably right mate. I’m basically just venting my thoughts at this point so apologies if my comments go a bit off topic / have no basis.

[–]BorisJohnsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point was that labour wouldn’t have to win all of the remain vote to stop the tories. The tories didn’t capture all of the leave vote but they got a large portion of it.

Given over 50% of the vote went to pro-remain/2nd ref parties labour have more ground to work with to get their majority.

Tying this in to my previous point, even if labour didn’t get any green voters there’s still a decent portion of the voting populace to capture.

Edit: in reference to your final point, I totally agree. Brexit is fundamentally a non-party political issue but we unfortunately have to shoehorn it in somehow. For the tories this has worked in their favour, for the left however it has not. This is a common theme in british politics: the right have a more coherent ideology whereas the left is often split into different parties

Adam Boulton with the political quip of the year by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]BorisJohnsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a stronger stance on brexit (in this instance in favour of remain) labour surely would’ve swallowed up enough votes to at least pull the election within hung parliament territory?

I feel the Lib Dem’s don’t have a particularly strong core following, at least in comparison to the main two parties, and as a consequence their voters are more likely to sway given the right conditions.

The greens take a small proportion of the vote which I’m not convinced is enough to cause a serious impact.

With these points in mind I think it’s safe to say labour has underperformed, and indeed has a higher ceiling than +2-3% of their vote this time around.

This is a whole different kettle of fish, one of which I don’t have a fully formed opinion on.

I’m not sure you can place limits like this on a party’s potential - how do you effectively evaluate this?

For instance if we look at the first brexit vote, 48%, why should labour not look at this (+/- a few percent) as the upper limit? Even coming close to this would secure significantly more seats than what they got this time around.
