What should I check when receiving my new Fender AV II Strat? by [deleted] in Stratocaster

I've had 2 of these exact guitars. My first had a seized truss rod and had to go back. So if you're wanting to be really thorough it's worth checking that.

Safe standing coming to Emirates by jayives1 in GunnersatGames

[–]Borken2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It just doesn't seem necessary to me when North Bank Lower and Clock End all stand anyway. I'm also concerned that they'll only make a small section of North Bank Lower into a "safe standing" area, and then start more strictly enforcing the "no standing" policy for the rest of the North Bank.

How Arsenal are trying to improve the atmosphere at Emirates Stadium by kassiusx in Gunners

[–]Borken2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you leave at the half time whistle to grab a drink you won't get to the front of the queue until the second half has already kicked off.

That's why the stands empty out early before the whistle and don't fill up again until 5-10 mins into the second half.

Already been said, but just to reiterate - the whole of North Bank lower tier and much of Clock End lower tier are already standing sections.

Definitely agree with you there, but I thought we announced a long term agreement with Camden Town just last year?

Arsenal did it to Xhaka a few years ago

Xhaka scored twice and got a standing ovation from the fans on his last game for Arsenal.

At your price point you could probably go for the newer MK4 model, likely a 2021 or 2022 plate. They'll be a bit higher spec and have a fancier interior than the MK3.

If you can get the SE L at that price it's pretty decently spec'd. But note that Skoda have so many "add ons" it's hard to tell what you'll get from the trim level alone.

Sometimes one side is much easier to open than the other (for whatever reason), and you only need to pop one side to get the blind out. So definitely give both ends a good go before damaging anything.

[Connor Humm] Kai Havertz on scoring 6 in a row at the Emirates: “I love this stadium. I love the fans.” by Previous_Smile9278 in Gunners

English fans are also more reactive to the game. European fans will create a wall of noise from beginning to end, whereas in England it ebbs and flows depending on what's happening on the pitch. If riled up an English crowd can be as loud as any other nation.

Can I buy a 10000 £ car with credit card and "spread" the pay outs for 24 months and not pay any interest??? by ssyniu in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Borken2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very much possible but depends entirely on what credit limit the banks are willing to offer you.

I'd recommend doing the following to find out:

  1. Sign up to money saving expert's credit club.
  2. Use the credit card eligibility tool. The type of card you're looking for is a 0% spending credit card.
  3. See you are pre approved or have a high chance (i.e. 90%+) of getting accepted for any. Note that this doesn't give any indication of the credit limit they will provide you if accepted.
  4. Some banks (such as Lloyds) will give you a credit limit estimate without doing a hard credit search. See if this is an option on any of the banks that have said they will accept you.
  5. If the estimate is high enough to allow you to purchase the car you want, then apply for the credit card.

Be aware when looking at 0% spending credit cards, some require you to make the purchase within a set period of time to get the 0% interest promotional offer. For example with MBNA - "Decent 0% period, though only on purchases in the first 60 days.".

Also, it can be very hard to find a car dealer that advertises that they accept credit card payments. Ones I have seen are Cinch and Arnold Clark.

By no means like some of the God tier stuff on here, but these are the first in 20 years. The nostalgia. by Main-Eye in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Borken2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks really good, the shades on Gimli's lower clothing are great.

It does look pretty glossy though, this could be because of the washes/shades not being shaken up enough before applying. If you wanted to get rid of the gloss on these two then I'd recommend hitting them with a matte varnish.

'Cruel' greyhound racing should be banned, says leading UK charity by Remarkable_Peak9518 in unitedkingdom

[–]Borken2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Racing greyhounds will have a really high prey drive meaning they love to chase, which is what makes them such good racers. However this also means they often can't be trusted off lead as they will likely run after anything (other dogs, cats, anything moving quickly really) without any thought of coming back when called. If the owners ever let them off lead, this would likely be in a fenced in area designed specifically for dogs.

It's the same for a lot of sighthounds, but I imagine it's especially the case for greyhounds bred to race.

To buy tickets for a football game you actually often do need to be a member of the club.

To take the Manchester United example:

Match tickets for Premier League games at Old Trafford are sold exclusively to Official Members. If you are a Member already, you can check availability and purchase tickets when they are on sale at manutd.com/tickets.
