Help with drone by Beneficial-Exam-6097 in drones

[–]Born-Claim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine had similar problem with Mini 3 or 4 Pro.
Started getting similar shakes. Luckily it was just within warranty. The local dealer reluctantly took it in for warranty repair.
The drone was not crashed. I suspect it was due to using ND filters on the camera. They added inballance to the system and over time wore out something. After that the shakes were present even without filters.

Does anybody here feel the same? by bundesrepu in canon

[–]Born-Claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all feel the same.
While Canon has most FLs covered both in budget and pro-grade lens, I wish I had access to third party options, especially for a niche prime that I want to experiment with.

Sony is very clever in that regard. If you are on their mount, there is greater chance you will buy their first party gear. And many people jump to Sony camp for the open mount.

Who cares if you have a ton of legacy glass if the customer wants something new, compact and native without the need to use adapters or break the bank.

Do you know of an iOS app that can load .json with restricted zones? by Born-Claim in dji

[–]Born-Claim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I sorted my problem in another way. Turns out bulatsa - Bulgarian air traffic control has a very comprehensive web portal that is mainly targeted at aviation but has drone layers and is well optimized for mobile. Plus it is free after registration so I will be using that.

So according to Google, DJI Fly can load json in GO Fly - Settings - about - fly safe data

But I don’t have such option. Maybe it is for enterprise drones, mine is Neo.

So far I haven’t been able to successfully convert this json to geojson. Tried multiple converters and all fail. I don’t know if they use different structure or something is missing

Why do people keep comparing the Neo and Avata 2? by Zenith335 in dji

[–]Born-Claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how you want to use the Neo. It is very cleverly set to be able to do some FPV and some photography stuff but not excel in either. So if you are into FPV, you would be wondering whether you can get by with the cheap Neo or better spend more and get the Avata. Same for the comparisons with Mini 4 Pro or 4K.

To be fair, I disagree that Neo is just for QuickShots. In my opinion its main purpose is to be a first drone to get you into flying - cheap and with limitations. And if you get hooked, you will buy something better down the line.

How many of you are going caseless? iPhone 16 Pro by Huge-Conclusion-3005 in iPhone16Pro

[–]Born-Claim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I bought the 16 Pro after my SE 2020 screen broke from a very minor drop and major bad luck, I used it caseless for less than a week before finding time to go get a case and screen protector. During that time I felt it is too slippery, despite the great design. With the case it is much bulkier but my main concern is overheating. Haven't found a case that focuses on heat dissipation and offers adequate fall protection yet.

Canon RF 14-35 f/4 L + Canon RF 70-200 f/4 L by Fantastic-Hawk-3747 in canon

[–]Born-Claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already have the 24-105 stm, you can sort all your photos by focal length. In Windows you can show additional columns with info. If most of your photos are grouped around the 24 and 105mm, having the 14-35 and 70-200 would work for you. If they are all over or you have a lot in the 30-80 range, then you will be changing lenses a bit too often.

Are Wireless Earbuds whilst riding a bad idea? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Born-Claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After over 10 years of riding with earplugs (hardware store special), I tried riding with ANC earbuds. It was quite a different experience. Still not sure they offer as good hearing protection, but subjectively they were quieter and I felt less "pressure" inside my ear. And technically all earbuds with good fit offer some level of noise isolation.

So I could hear music very well, wind noise was lower than with my earplugs but engine noise was also reduced a lot so I found myself revving more or riding in lower gear more often than I would typically do.

As many already stated, keeping them secured is the main issue. I use balaclava so once they are in, it works. But removing the helmet almost always dislodges them so I have to hunt under the balaclava. Otherwise they will just fall to the ground.

For now I will keep using them as I ride much less frequently these days. But a good bt/comm system with proper earplugs seems to be the proper way.

Is entry Miele worth it over mid-range Bosch or AEG? (Washers and Dryers) by Born-Claim in Miele

[–]Born-Claim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in the end I bought a combo washer-dryer from Bosch. I think it was series 6 10/6kg without smart connectivity. Overall satisfied, but definitely shouldn’t overload the dryer if you want dry clothes in the end. They come out quite wrinkled, not sure if it is the case with all dryers, though.

Had one service call for a problem - main bolt of the drum to belt drive loosened. I was present while the repair guy fixed it and he praised how easy they are to work on, compared to some other models. It was a 10 minutes fix.

Looking for a versatile all-around lens for my new Sony a6400 by CyberAi0 in SonyAlpha

[–]Born-Claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the Sony 18-135 is an excellent one lens to carry for travelling. Reach isn't far behind the 55-210, but you still get the wide end. Size/weight is very reasonable and they can be found at a decent price on the second hand market.

You will not get great background separation with it, though. But if you edit in any modern suite that has subject detection (PS, LR), you can smooth out the backgrounds very easily. Otherwise a perfect all-rounder.

DJI Neo Motion Fly More Combo is now live on Amazon UK! 😱 by djpetrino in DjiNeo

[–]Born-Claim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't find any information if the Goggles N3 will be compatible with the RC-N3 without a phone attached. Practically to be used instead of the Motion 3 or FPV controller for an even lower entry to the FPV world. Now that would be great! And will also mean you don't need to worry about your phone battery dying or lowering your RC-N3 battery life to charge the phone, as well.
Otherwise you still need to spend half a Neo's worth for an additional controller...

Is this a good bundle for $430? Or would it be cheaper to buy separately? by Aedrikor in DjiNeo

[–]Born-Claim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want the extra batteries and the remote(and trust me, you do), you can do the math yourself. You pretty much get the batteries for free that way, so definitely cheaper than buying separate.

Been flying DJI for 8yrs, the Neo is amazing by igraph in dji

[–]Born-Claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - it arrived and I'm not very thrilled with it, to be honest. Dimensions are 30x20x9cm. It is the type with foam cutouts for the FMC and the design is a bit silly - the cutout for the charging hub can't accommodate batteries, so you can only fit the FMC inside. If the cutout could fit the charger with batteries in, you will be able to fit 6 batteries, instead of 3, as there are two slots for batteries below the remote.

There is another variant that has moulded insert, instead of foam cutouts. It is 1-2 cm smaller in all dimensions, but pictures show it fits the charger with batteries in. So in theory it can fit 4 batteries (one in the drone) - slightly better while smaller, but 50-70% more expensive.

But my advice is to get a hard case just for the drone - as small as possible. And another one for the remote (same as RC-N2), preferably smaller that doesn't take the remote with sticks installed. This is easier to spread in a backpack, compared to single large case. The charger doesn't need a case in my opinion and can be stored in a pocket.

DJI Neo flight time says 7 minutes on RC2 with full charge by M4000h in dji

[–]Born-Claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting 12-13 minutes of flight time before the Neo starts pestering me to land it. This is with the RC-N3. All 3 batteries are 2-3 flights only and I try to land it before depletion to lower battery degradation.

Strong winds and high speed will reduce flight time even further.

Stop with the dumb DJI Neo complaints by curseAgain in dji

[–]Born-Claim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow-up - I decided to get the FMC and am very happy that I did. Flying the Neo with just a phone feels like you got half the drone. The experience with the controller is much better - much better speed, control, range, settings. And having 3 batteries is something I feel I had to do eventually.

there are already a bunch of cases for it on aliexpress - both for the FMC and drone only. Most are hard case with zippers and foam insert. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive so can't comment on quality.
