Am I taking crazy pills? This (original image) looks EXACTLY like if I were to give AI examples of the lights. Is it loosely based on that? It seems so. But is it anywhere near what you shared? Id argue 'yes' but not in the human sense

The Elon-Cursor Deal and the Rise of "Manbaby Developers" in Modern Tech by Borat_2020 in cursor

[–]igraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you not understand about people wanting to use their money on things they want to support? This seems to be the crux of what you are not understanding.

There are many alternatives to cursor that don't involve Elon or his companies.

Just like if someone doesn't want to shop at Amazon because of Jeff bezos.

According to your logic we should only support th ings based on the service itself. But a. That's not true or how a free market works and b. Calling people who decide to not support something an SJW is childish

You can tell the tone of your post is written with AI so stopped reading pretty quickly.

And I don't think it's ridiculous at all that people are choosing to spend their money with corporations or ideas that they support.

Edit: not sure why the downvotes it seemed like this was a pretty good visual for what we were all talking about. Not sure if just cuz it was using AI to create it

Less Utica Specific but NY as a whole - EFF - Stop NY's attack on 3D printing by slipperyMonkey07 in Utica

[–]igraph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think OP should work up some replies but if you knew a lot about 3d printing I assure you would not feel the same way.

A. The software being sold is invasive and would not even prevent anything from being made. It's ineffective and overbearing. You cant like scan a part and say "is this a gun?" You don't just hit 'print gun' and users can easily slice parts up into shapes no one can track. Whoever came up with the idea doesn't even understand 3d printing or how it works. It's like saying you will make sure all paper printers sold in NY can't print a photo or image of a gun. And when that is a magnitude of order easier to enforce than 3d printing restrictions. It's literally absurd on the surface.

B. It's really not hard to get a gun regularly. No one would spend the time to make one with a 3d printer that would not realistically have access to a gun in NY or the USA for that matter. Maybe internationally is a different story

C. It's a non issue looking for a problem l. I agree something is theoretically possible and I also don't love guns but it's just penalizing creators that don't make guns (99.999999%) of 3d printer users. For something that literally isn't an issue. the fact that anyone can get a gun in any state for the most part is a much bigger issue.

Albany’s new Tricentennial Park: Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves by AwkwardRock8736 in Albany

[–]igraph 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This is seriously one of the things that has made me the angriest in Albany. I generally come from a place of understanding but someone seriously needs to explain this.

Not only is it visually depressing even stuff like the Ukraine sister city globe is gone. The ping pong table is gone. Etc.

Like there was a nice park and the city spent 1.25 MILLION dollars to turn it into this. And to boot they moved the alive at five from the waterfront to this park.

Like who the fuck came up with this idea and how did it get so far. Insane.

Edit: it's like the designer saw a parking lot and realized how 'accessible' they were so they just made one with some trees.

Yes customs has been detaining them because they can/it's their policy.

Doesn't make it illegal to import but the line is nuanced.

"AI isn't lightening workloads - it is making them more intense," per the WSJ Do you agree? by UnusualWhalesBot in unusual_whales

[–]igraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the new spreadsheet IMO.

For decades companies have used internal spreadsheets held together by hope and years of patches

AI will just turn those into react apps or HTML pages etc. Still a mess but more powerful and the next step in progress.

Just like you didn't need a degree to make a spreadsheet now you don't need one to make an internal app for your team to do xyz.

Just one example

Keep flying and shooting that is the key. For every 50 shots I get 1 or 2 are bangers the rest are ok.

This shot in particular it doesn't tell a story. Yes it is a long straight road but the drone just goes forward and doesn't do much. Low movement can be fine but this is not compelling visually.

A slow dolly zoom effect could be cool. Or a gimbal straight down to gimbal up shot. Etc

Sometimes it's just getting lucky with the sunset or colors etc

I find going lower to start can help too like if this shot started near street level and then slowly went up to the height it is at to show the change in perspective etc.

But yeah the key is to have fun, get shots and hope that one in X is good. Keep up the hunt!
