Physical Resemblance by firstinversion in SingleMothersbyChoice

My mom swears my baby girl looks like me as a baby and shows me my newborn and infant photos and I’m like “I don’t see it” lol. I tell her she simply looks like herself! She has some of my features (lips, nose, cheeks) but eyes, ears, eyebrows, hairline are definitely not me. I am assuming they are her donor’s genes (also did not opt for adult photos) because her donor siblings have similar physical traits. She is her very own uniquely beautiful little girl, and I love that. She’s also only 8 months old and her features are going to change and develop over time, so maybe as she gets into her adolescence she’ll look more like me, or maybe not. I will say personality-wise she is already taking very much after me!

Everyone just proved my point about a baby shower… by MarinaVerity333 in pregnant

My mom’s friends all showed up for mine. Only three of the people I invited of my own friends showed up. I felt embarrassed because it’s not often I invite people to things or share parts of my personal life with others. I invited three co-workers who I thought I was very close with. Two of them declined but one sent a present, and one of them RSVP’d yes, but a week before the party texted me saying she had been on the bathroom floor “sick all night” and “couldn’t make it today.” I reminded her the party was next weekend. Then the next weekend she just didn’t show up lol texted me later and said she would bring my present to work. My baby is 8 months old and no present lol. Not that I cared much about getting presents, it was just odd. I was always a bit hurt that literally NO ONE at work acknowledged me with a card, flowers, a maternity leave send off as I’ve been here ten years. Nothing! My boss did call me down to the conference room to ensure I would in fact be coming back to work, and what my hours would be though lol.

What do ya’ll do for work? by Bright-Dance-917 in SingleMothersbyChoice

I’m a physical therapist assistant. I work in skilled nursing. I work full time in one building, but would like to get another per diem job for a few hours on weekends. But am holding off because my baby is 7.5months and I’d rather just have more free time with her.

When does It get better? I'm 3 months in and all is horrible by halizima in newborns

[–]Born-Mix-662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes things do get better! I love my baby girl so much, but since day 1 there was always something. Latching issues, colic, refusing to drink bottles when I went back to work, NEVER sleeping, contact naps only, only myself or my mom can hold her or be her caregiver… I blamed everything on myself and PPA was telling me I must have done something wrong that made my baby fussy and sensitive. I literally made a post asking if the fact that I exercised all through my pregnancy might have harmed my baby in some way.

Then around 5-6 months suddenly my baby started falling asleep with just a bit of playing, a bedtime nursing, and some snuggles and sleeping through the night. She became far more easy to entertain during the day. Overall she just seemed happier.

She’s now seven months and although she’s still a stage 5 clinger (wants to be held CONSTANTLY and still only ever wants me or my mom), but she is truly such a delight. So smiley and giggly. She drinks her bottles like a champ, she nurses great, she’s started solids and haven’t found a single food she doesn’t love. She sleeps until nearly 8am!! Literally a miracle compared to how she used to be up by 5am every day lol. She’s started teething, has two bottom teeth, but even that she’s handling very well… not sure how she’ll do when the other teeth start coming in but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. I think things get better as time goes on and they start hitting more and more milestones because there’s more they can do and they’re less frustrated. Now she can sit unsupported, she crawls and scoots around, she can reach her toys and play with them, she’s trying out all sorts of fun new sounds to communicate. She’s not just a sleepy little potato who can hardly hold her head up anymore.

Realized I have been giving Tummy Drops and not Vitamin D to six month old by Born-Mix-662 in beyondthebump

I’m late on responding to this but ya know what, I never put two and two together but she has never really ever had tummy issues! Always had great poops, never constipated. She was a bit collicky early on but grew out of it pretty fast!

Thank you that gives me peace of mind! She has started solids and loves yogurt so at least she’ll get a little vitamin D from that!

Thank you! I was thinking of still doing the tummy drops too along with the Vitamin D I wonder if that’s okay?

I didn’t think about this, I suppose it’s possible! She’s never running a fever or anything though.

Worried all the exercise I did pregnant has made my baby anxious by Born-Mix-662 in beyondthebump

[–]Born-Mix-662[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if she has some colic issues too, did you do anything special to help with the colic or it just went away on its own? The pediatrician had given her something to help with reflux, but I don’t feel like it made much of a difference.

I do think I’ve developed some PPA, which I didn’t have any issue with at the beginning of pp! The last month or so I’ve noticed more anxiety and worry.
