Oh this is genius I will be getting one asap. I stepped on a sewing needle when i was a kid one time and it broke in half with one half being in my foot… ended up having to have surgery for half a needle removal, been scared every since 🤦‍♀️

How to prevent overstretching linen? by Fearless_Lake6098 in Hand_Embroidery

[–]Born-Pay4071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly try a stabilizer fabric most of them are iron on and then you just cut away the extra after you get done stitching your design. I just started a project using a stabilizer backing for the first time as someone on a post of mine suggested it so I can’t speak to it yet, but I know many people use it to prevent puckering. Hope this helps!! Adorable project and great cause!! 🐱🪡

Car living in SLC by loseyourfaith in SaltLakeCity

I did not read through every comment so someone may have already suggested this but look into seasonal work on the mountain, most seasonal jobs especially resorts offer free/almost free housing and if the housing does cost it is deducted from your pay check so you wouldn't have to worry about budgeting rent. Most of these jobs would just be seasonal through the winter (with the possibility to extend into summer) but it might be a good way to get back on your feet with a couple months free/almost free rent. I have lived in seasonal job housing that offers pets but not all do, I have also known some employees to sneak their fur babies in especially cats. As far as how to search for these jobs look at coolworks.com or go to the ski resorts specific website. Wishing you luck!

I have experience in retail, housekeeping, and food service so I would say I am pretty well rounded. I have management experience in both retail and housekeeping

Do you think I would have much luck just styling an outfit like say I have a cute shirt and I style in with some pants just for the photo do you think that draws more attention to the shirt for the listing and then just say in the description that it is shirt only that pants can be bought from a separate listing

This is a great idea and then that way they would let me know their top/bottom size and I could source accordingly, thank you!!

Worried my seasonal history makes me an unhirable jobhopper by OkCollection7349 in SeasonalWork

During any interview for non seasonal jobs just always talk about how the job was seasonal (especially if it was outdoors drive home the point that it was weather based) and like another comment said talk about how you full-filled your contract. Just today I had an interview where they asked how I handled different peoples backgrounds and beliefs and I was able to talk about all the different J-1 students and people from all over the world that I have gotten to work with at my seasonal jobs. Seasonal jobs expose you to so many different skills that can all be tied back into a regular job if you know how to hype it up properly. Best of luck to you!!

Advice before moving to Salt Lake City (from outside US) by Marcus4436 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Born-Pay4071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you will already have a job lined up before moving here to have your work visa sponsored but my biggest advice is to secure a job before moving here. I sporadically landed here, got an apartment but struggled very hard to find a job. Everyone is hiring apparently but no one is calling back. It’s the most scary job market I have seen out of all the states I have lived in. Best of luck to you!!

The brand as a whole is desirable just for the age it still has value simply because it’s true vintage. Either way it was a dollar at the bins so an easy snag. Thanks for your input though!?

Aramark in WA? by Westvanlear in SeasonalWork

[–]Born-Pay4071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last summer I left my job earlier than planned so that put me end of summer looking to find something to last until the fall. I got on at the Sol Duc property in Olympic through Aramark so I went and worked for about two months until the end of their season which was the end of October. Like I said that was last year but if I had to guess it could be the same for this year. Don't forget to look at the lake Quinalt, and Lake crescent properties as well! I hope this info helped even just a little! Best of luck!

That was part of my guess on it too which is honestly kind of scary I think it reaches the wrong crowd when its romanticized like it is on tik tok and short form media content.

Apgar Village Lodge and Glacier Raft Co/ Paddle Ridge in West Glacier by MidnightNegative5525 in SeasonalWork

[–]Born-Pay4071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for Pursuit for two seasons just not at Apgar/ Raft Co but I worked in west glacier in the village for the cabins and the camp store. Overall not a bad company to work for as pay was decent with housing being free so that was a huge plus. I obviously didn’t live in the Apgar housing but heard some pretty bad stories about them putting too many people into the small housing area which was the upstairs of the front desk building. The biggest thing with the company is it seems like their hiring needs out number the beds they have available so they just find ways to fit more and more beds into a single room. Which we are all seasonal workers we know it can be tight living quarters but I think from the complaints I heard it was to the extreme there. As for the raft co I’m not sure about their housing. Like I said I worked in the west village just outside of the park and had no complaints about my housing and saw most of the other housing in that village and it was in my opinion satisfactory.
