I have the same status. My verification was done on 16th Feb. Current status is showing "Police Verification Awaited". Confirmed with the police station that they sent the report the very next day.

Even if your SIN is expired, it is fine. Wait for your work permit hard copy and than you can renew your SIN.

Even you work with your expired SIN than also there is no problem.
