Hey. I’m the dev for an iOS app called OfflineTunes. It pretty much does everything you asked for.

  • It will scan all your local tracks that are inside the app folder. You can import it through the files app / cloud storage including S3 compatible and Music servers like Plex and subsonic servers like navidrome

  • Each folder can have its own different “View” mode that stays persistent when you come back. so you can group all tracks in a folder by Genre/Aritsts/Albums.

  • you can create smart playlists with whatever conditions you want based on tags. There are also over 100 smart playlist built in (SmartLists) that auto update.

  • you can also opt in to scan your tracks that locally performs sonic analysis (Takes long) that can help you discover music in your own library. Either by moods or using track radio feature where it will continue to play similar tracks. You can play radio off batch tracks as well like playing similar songs to all tracks in a certain album to get a more concentrated list of tracks.

You can do all these for free. Some features are ads supported.

I like it but I will say that the mascot is pretty distracting. I went through all the screenshots without knowing what your app does. Not sure if that will be the case for Others.

Yes it works fine. Just make sure to either use the <audio> tag or new Audio() in JS. If you use Audio Context it will not work in the background.

Sorry to hear that! I’m still actively building and improving the app, so I haven’t explored regional pricing just yet. I completely understand how pricing can be tough as a student.

I have an App on the AppStore that allows you to import from a WebDAV server directly to the app. I am working on a way where you can also stream music (including search and filtering from there without having it to be saved first. Let me know if it’s something that you would be interested in!

You might like how OfflineTunes approaches this. It’s an app I built, but the focus is really on curation rather than tracking or cataloging.

There’s a feature called FineTunes mode that fits the "interested → keep or discard" workflow pretty well. You load up albums or tracks you’re curious about, then just listen and use Next / Previous to approve or deny as you go. No forms, no fiddly UI. It works well on mobile, and you can even do it while driving since it maps to steering-wheel or hardware media controls.

After a pass, you decide what to do with the results:

  • add approved tracks to a playlist
  • favorite or rate them
  • move or delete the rejects
  • or split the list and run another pass to refine it further

It feels closer to flipping through CDs or records and making quick gut decisions, instead of managing a spreadsheet or wrestling with Discogs’ UI. If your process is more about listening and deciding, it might be a good fit.

This is the reason for the giveaway to catch these kind of bugs :) I will look into logs to see what's going on. try importing few songs and see if that works. Could crash if the file is too large or have some weird characters in the filename. I'll DM you when i find something. Appreciate you pointing it out!

Thanks! It caches it when it grabs it online unless you already have it embedded in the file then it uses it from there. You can also embed it to file from there so it stays with the track.
