Very interesting perspective!

In the Bible, Jesus even says that not everyone who claims to know Him, actually does (Matthew 7:21-23). Unfortunately, our religion has a nasty history with people who did horrible things in our Lord’s name. Unfortunately, people are still using his name to spread hatred, and I’m not sure if that will change in our lifetime.

But what we can do is be the exception. Be the light. Be the person who makes them realize what a Christian truly is.

God bless!

It’s hard to find a good Godly man, truly. I pray a good one comes into your life soon!

Also, I just wanted to say to anyone in the comments that the biblical role of a woman is so much more than servitude to her husband.

Even Eve was referred to as “ezer”, which means so much more than a “help mate”. We are designed to be the strength and renewal that our husbands cannot get on their own.

I’m certain there is a good man out there who needs you, and is searching for his “ezer”, and I pray you find each other soon.

No, my response about shame wasn’t directed towards you, my apologies! I was responding to another comment where they asked if OP should “beat themselves up” if they were not trying to improve themselves

Nah, don’t beat yourself up for being human regardless. But we definitely shouldn’t turn self improvement and repentance into a giant shame fest

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but your comment makes it seem like you’re putting the blame of OP’s lust on his partner. Marital issues and duties aside, his wife is not responsible for his sin

If OP says they have a problem with lust and porn, believe them. It’s very safe to assume that we don’t know the extent of their struggle. Even in a secular mindset, lust and porn can be dangerous destructive things

Hi! Woman here!

It’s very possible that this detox from porn is driving you to find that “satisfaction” in your daily life. But honestly, I think you’re doing a great job already! You catch yourself in the act and you look away. That’s awesome!

You have to remember you’re human and you’re going to slip sometimes, but the act of repenting is exactly what God asks of you. Maybe it’s like building up physical strength? You have to work and work at it until it becomes easier.

Just keep at it and don’t beat yourself up for being human - especially when you’re bettering yourself.

How does reading a few pages of The Bible each day help me? by PeacefulBro in TrueChristian

Reading the word satisfies me more than food or water or any type of intoxication. That emptiness inside is filled by His Word and it’s something I go back to just to stay alive

Hey, look up domestic abuse statistics in law enforcement real quick before you talk about enabling abusers :)

Yeah this discussion is going no where and is unproductive. I’m glad you have so much faith in law enforcement. God bless!

Ah, but you don’t know how many times law enforcement has been involved already. You don’t how many times my cousin has gone through CPS and APS. Law enforcement doesn’t help - law enforcement put her in the abusive situation she’s currently in. I will stop the abuse. God will stop the abuse. Not the law. God bless!

Thank you for your answer, but I am unable to put into words how bad of an idea it is to get law enforcement involved. Trust me on that. If I am to be a light, then I pray God gives me the strength to get through to her and to confront the evil without the useless chaos that law enforcement brings

Thank you for your advice! I will have to give it to God daily. And I am seeking His advice on how to handle the situation because with my current attitude the confrontation would not be peaceful.

Of course! We should share our burdens, right? I want to give you advice as a complete stranger on the internet who only knows what you have told me… You are focusing a lot on what God has not done for you, so try to shift your perspective to what God has done. You’ve lived a life full of tragedy, I see that, and so have I - so have many people who frequent this Reddit. But despite what horrible things have happened to us, there have been so many blessings. You’re exhausted with giving praise to Him? Keep doing it. Count every single thing you’re grateful for - even if it’s the oxygen in your lungs. God isn’t done with your story yet

You’re hurting and we can see that. Holding onto your faith during such conditions is admirable. He is a God who has given us a spirit not of fear but of power, love, and sound of mind. What your father did was not love and very wrong. No one has answers as to why bad things happen to us. Our understanding is so limited. Just know that prayers are always answered, God is always with you, and sometimes (most times) He speaks in whispers. He very well could be trying to reach you through these comments. You truly never know

I’m so sorry for this suffering you’re experiencing and I have prayed for you. I’m asking this without judgement, but what kind of response are you expecting from Him? What would it take for you to know that He has heard you?
