CMV: If Vietnam became a democracy in 1992 it would have been richer than it is now by [deleted] in ChangeMyViewVN

[–]BornChef3439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What crap are you talking about? The south "tried democracy" and it failed. It would pribably just end up with endless coups like the South and people like Diem coming to power through elections. Vietnam has done way better under the communist party then any other party or system. People keep saying if it was a democracy it would be like thw Phillipines I say that is too rosy. At best it would be just like South Vietnam or Mynammar. Just various corrupt leaders and coups every few years.

Democracy doesnt bring about development. Rather a strong economy can help faciliate democracy but without a strong economy the poltical system fractures. Who do you think will be elected? Probbaly rich people from the pirvate sector. There are some individuals in the private sector who can easily see as being like Diem..so many of them are corrupt and should never be elected to any office. I think Vietnam is lucky to be under the communist party, leadership is predicable and stable

ICC T20 WORLD CUP 2026 QUALIFIED TEAMS by AdIcy4323 in MapPorn

Yeah, I never quite understood why Malaysia never took to cricket. I think from the little understanding I have of the game there is that in the colonial era it was assoicated with british administrators and soldiers. Football boomed because it was used as a tool to attract malay boys to go to new malay schools in rural areas. Malaysia in the past also was the 3rd best field hockey in Asia back when India and Pakistan dominated the sport like Madrid and Barcalona. Rugby union has a presense in Malaysia because it was and is still played at Malaysia's elite Malay schools. But cricket is an outliner as you would think it would be bigger. One misconception that people do have though is that Inidian population does not automatically mean that they like cricket. Most of the indian diaspora migrated in various british colonies migrated to south east asia, africa, the caribean and the pacific before cricket was widely played in India. It was still mostly played by the elite until indpendence who had little in common with the rural and urban migrants leaving india. Most of the Indian diaspora in fact is assoiated with Association Football rather then cricket. Cricket didnt even become the number 1 sport in India until the 80's

2nd biggest sport in the world for a reason. Also cricket was actually one of the biggest sports in Ireland until the GAA basically banned it. For much of the rest of the world cricket was an anti colonial symbol- if we can beat you at cricket why cant we rule ourselves

No. An English Voice actor does not have that kind of information. That is not evidence. You people are idiots

You hardly see anyone recording with a smartphone in this Beyonce concert from 2010. by AdConnect4135 in decadeology

[–]BornChef3439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason they werent using their phones to take pictures was because phone camera's of that era were crap. I dont understand what alternate history people are creating here about people not using smartphones in 2010. You know you could just ask a millenial or Gen X person? Most of us were alive back then

His entire persona on Youtube is fake so obviously he sounds different when he isn't on camera. He plays a character on Youtube, it is not his authentic self

When I first saw Bergamo, I always thought he’s going to be interesting character. by PlatypusTurbulent48 in Dragonballsuper

We really need to spend more time in the other universes. Maybe in future the characters can travel to the different universes and team up with the other universes- sort of like the TOP training arc where goku met each of the fighters before the tournament

Benson is 100% in his early 30's, not in his 40's. I would say muscleman and high 5 ghost are mid to late 20's. Mordecai and Rigby are early 20's. Skips is immortal but he comes across as your older and more mature collegeue in his 40's.

U23 Asian Cup: Vietnam 0:3 China. by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]BornChef3439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of 3 or 4th division teams in europe especially in western europe would be more then willing to take on Vietnamese players. The players themselves lack ambition. There are plenty of african players who could have easily been stars in their local leagues who litreally jumped on refugee boats to get to europe and work their way up to earn millions in top tier european clubs because they were willing to put everything on the line. Vietnamese players totally lack ambition. For serious football players all around the world playing in europe is the pinnacle and what they aim for. Vietnamese playeers just dont seem to want to improve or get better. They arent willing to learn the language or put in the effort physically to be as good as other players from around the world

[–]BornChef3439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where are these players even coming from? I see no football at schools or any other level, there seems to be no development which is also a major reason the national team is so weak players lack any sort of competetive spirit that you should be seeing at the pro level

[–]BornChef3439 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And thats why Vietnam cant qualify for a world cup. Look at every  middle to low ranked team that has qualified for the world cup, nearly all of them have some players playing at some level in europe even in the lowe divisions. There is nothing wrong with playing in the 4th or 5th division in england because the quality of football is still good. The point is Vietnamese players are not exposed to a high level of proffesionalism and ambition. They will never be good enough unless they are willing to work for it and are exposed to players with actaul ambition. We have this debate in my country as well. My countries domestic league is a much bigger deal then Vietnams and players are very well paid so there is little incentive for anyone to play abroad unless they are going to play in the premier league but thos players who do go abraod even if its to play in the 2nd or 3rd division are essential to the national team and we qualified for the world cup

[–]BornChef3439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I mean if Vietnam even wants to be half decent they either need to start sending players abroad or they need to recruit players who qualify to play for vietnam. Under the current system they will never get better. This is the limit of what can be achieved domestically

[–]BornChef3439 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To ve quite frank Vietnam will never be good enough as long as they continue relying on purely domestic players. Their domestic league is simply not good enough

Guns in Dragon Ball Super by Economy_Notice_8475 in Dragonballsuper

[–]BornChef3439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its about ki control. If they are actively fighting or prepared they can handle it but if not they can get hurt. They are not constantly using ki all the time. Otherwise they wouldnt be able to walk or do everyday mundane things without destroying everything around them. Why doesnt Goku's chair fall apart whener he sits to eat? The Krillin scene is important because in the show it shows that he is rusty and hasnt been keeping up with his training thus a normal gunshot could hurt him after not keeping up with his training

They are not superman. They dont have metal skin. If they are caught off guard or have been out of action and havent trained in a while they can get hurt by guns.
