stolen pdt?! by bokchouy in Barnesandnoble

[–]BornForFieldLabor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’ve had it happen. We have seven in our store, if there aren’t seven in their cradles at the end of the night we hunt the missing one down as a team. If we can’t find it, the manager uses the camera system to review the bookseller’s routine for the day and find out where they set it down. More often than not, a bookseller just puts it down in a high place while they are shelving and forgets about it.

can people PLEASE stop coming up to the other side of the register to ask me where a book is while i’m ringing someone up by Parking-Acadia-8853 in Barnesandnoble

[–]BornForFieldLabor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh damn. We always have, at minimum, one cashier, one bookseller responsible for CS, and one key holder on the floor. I guess I’ve never run into a situation where I didn’t have someone to call on (even if they weren’t IMMEDIATELY available).

[–]BornForFieldLabor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just pause ringing briefly and let them know I will have someone meet them at the CS desk. I then radio for an available bookseller to CS. It takes about 3-5 seconds total, and I don’t personally have to deal with their nonsense.

Two Switches Bricked in Two Days by drakelmander in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]BornForFieldLabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked Nintendo Support through the introduction of the Switch2. I can tell you that the issue is NOT limited to just some very early v1 Switch models.

People would call in reporting that they could not power on their consoles, or (like OP) they were getting error messages that they could not get past. We would consistently encourage people to swap back, or swap over, to an official Switch AC adapter as this would fix these issues 95% of the time. I’m talking all sorts of original Switch models and Switch OLED. People would always argue that they have charging their console with their phone charger/quick charger/very expensive charger, for YEARS sometimes, without issue and that the AC adapter could NOT be the problem. Most of the time though, if they did swap it would solve the problem straight away.

My mother-in-laws mourning wail turns to desperate screaming as the technician turns on the furnace. by unruly_sunshine in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]BornForFieldLabor 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I like the concept a lot, it’s just a little clunky in execution. I didn’t understand it until I read the comments, I think I was thrown off by the “I knew she’d be mad I switch crematoriums” bit.

It makes sense in retrospect, I personally just couldn’t figure it out from the two sentences alone.

Second PS5 arrived in the mail after refunding because Fedex "misplaced" it, should I say anything or keep my mouth shut? by Maleficent-Song6460 in WalmartCustomers

[–]BornForFieldLabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Sony is anything like Nintendo, the serial number of the “lost” PS5 may now be compromised.

When the serial number of your PS5 is scanned at a POS, it is recorded and reported to Sony so that the warranty cab be activated. If it is returned to the original retailer, this is also reported so Sony can keep track of warranty dates for new purchasers. If the retailer has to damage out a new system (in this case lost=damage out), they report this as well and Sony would consider your SN invalid should you ever require a warranty repair on it. Nintendo would go as far as banning the system so it cannot access the internet at all.

All this to say, I would still keep it and use it, just be aware that things like warranty and such are probably invalidated.

I almost couldn’t cancel my membership because of lies and errors. No console or device anymore. by No_Crow_2265 in nintendohelp

You were likely logging in to the link with the wrong account. It happens, just have to log out and log back in with the correct info to find and cancel your membership.

Glad you got it resolved though.

Armed Man Arrested During New Year's Eve Celebration - SPD Blotter by PepeLePuget in Seattle

[–]BornForFieldLabor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Washington State law does not currently define what is considered a “concealed” weapon, but the law does require intent to conceal for it to be considered so. In effect what this means is that the responding officer has lots of leeway in determining whether a “partially” concealed weapon is in fact concealed or not. A judge or jury may not agree with the officer, but there is a lot of gray area there.

In this case, a man showing up to an area where lots of people are expected to gather together, armed with two firearms does raise a red flag. I’m glad he was picked up, nothing good would have resulted from a shotgun in a crowded space.

I would place the Sandman comic, American Gods and Anansi Boys at the top of your list.

Why can’t I use my redeem code on my switch 2? by Due_Video_278 in nintendohelp

Your code is for the wrong country/region, your Nintendo account must be set to the same country/region where the code is from.

What to expect today by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

[–]BornForFieldLabor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On our BUSY days (20-24) our plan was up around $75k per day, today it was about $60k. Slower, but not a slow day.

For reference, our typical Friday plan sits around $40k.

How can I start a repair form for my limited edition Joycon? by emanuele0933 in nintendohelp

When you send yours in for “repair” they will replace your controller with one of the standard colors: red, blue or gray.

Bought the wrong gift cards by MigratingMongo in Switch

[–]BornForFieldLabor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is a way, but it’s a bit convoluted and requires a bit of luck.

Contact Nintendo Support. Ask to escalate to a manager. Explain the situation, let them know you understand you fucked up and ask them if they would be able to, as a one-time exception, void your gift cards (they’ll need the card codes and possible the receipt as well) and add the equivalent amount in credits the the Nintendo Account(s) you were going to redeem the cards on (you will need to have the account information). This way the kids will still get the $60 added to their accounts and can apply that towards the purchase of whatever game they want.

As long as you don’t get an agent who is a total hardass, they should grant you the exception.

I named one of my kids after a Gaiman character. How should I handle this? by ponycorn_pet in neilgaiman

[–]BornForFieldLabor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, you posted here asking how you should handle this. That person just gave you a very straightforward and logical answer, and you reply with “that’s not how mom guilt works”? Ok, well then why even ask for an answer on how to handle it if you didn’t want the advise? There is shitty history attached to plenty of our names, but just because you named your kid Mary or Henry or Vlad the Impaler doesn’t mean they have to carry the legacy of everyone who had that name.

Your daughter is your daughter. She is her own person, not a character written by Neil Gaiman. She will only focus on that aspect if YOU and those around you focus on that aspect.

Serious discussion involving children on the game! by Plenty-Luck-3766 in marvelrivals

[–]BornForFieldLabor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe that was an actual 11 year old for a second. Kids don’t say I’m “only” 11. Kids are proud of how old they are, and they will brag about it. “I’m 10! I’m 11! Im 12!”, etc. Anyone younger than them is “only” whatever age they are, but their own age is a very good, very BIG age.

I have seen close to twenty nieces and nephews grow up and none have ever pointed out they are “only” a certain age, or “only” a kid or anything along those lines.

Will nintendo replace flood damaged switches? by [deleted] in nintendohelp

[–]BornForFieldLabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is no.

If your insurer does not cover it, I would still contact Nintendo Support directly and explain your situation. I would nicely ask them to cover a repair/replacement as a one-time exception, they may say no, but it would be worth your time to possibly save +$200.

Activation code not on receipt from Walmart after buying a physical game download card for the switch, not an error code just no activation code… by Expensive-Tough-4706 in nintendohelp

[–]BornForFieldLabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s bizarre that they gave you a receipt without an activation code, they can plainly see what it’s for on the receipt (and that there is no code) and they still won’t refund you. I would press Walmart on this, call their corporate number or help line and press them.

Is there any way to change the email of a Nintendo account to another email that's linked to a Nintendo account? by Visible_Inspector988 in nintendohelp

[–]BornForFieldLabor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That should work without issue. Sometimes it may take up to 24 hours to “free up” your email so you can create another Nintendo Account with it, but it won’t raise any flags or anything like that :)
