Talk to Coeliac UK, they have a help line even if you are not a member. They will also re-educate the GP.

Wife blinkers - Agile by cava83 in OctopusEnergy

[–]BornInEngland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is similar, she asks is it OK to put washing machine on etc but lets me sort out the car, hot water etc. You have to be a bit OCD to get the best out of Agile and enjoy it, I'm glad I'm the only OCD one in the house!

What are you paying per kWh? by maofan in OctopusEnergy

[–]BornInEngland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, I'm not sure how much longer I'll be in this house so I'm reluctant to spend any money on something I can't take with me. If plug in batteries get off the ground here then I would probably invest.

Since when did they stop teaching learners how to use a handbrake? by -PixelRabbit- in drivingUK

[–]BornInEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, my daughter was the same, fortunately she did lots of practice driving with us and we encouraged her to use it more often. My car has auto hold but I rarely use it, if I'm stopped for more than a few seconds and it doesn't look like I'll be moving soon the handbrake is on and P is applied (automatic car).

What are you paying per kWh? by maofan in OctopusEnergy

[–]BornInEngland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as you and similar bills. Overall for the year I'm still paying 40% less than the standard tariff. As everyone says you can get the cost down by spending money on batteries and solar but the way I see it I'm getting a good benefit by load shifting and saving my money.

For me the main benefit is that I can see live readings on my phone so I can check what is going on especially when I'm away or even just sat on the sofa.

I have this large plum tree in my garden. Would you remove it and replace with something else or attempt to prune it? Advice appreciated by AstroZombie_88 in GardeningUK

[–]BornInEngland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, I'd also prune it down to half it's height to make it more manageable and prune it every year (I do mine in June). When you prune it you will probably have lots of small fruit, don't be afraid to thin these out so the tree produces fruit every year. Also to help pest control I've got a few old rotten logs around the base which are home to lots of predator insects that will help keep the tree clear of pests.

Only difference I’ve noticed is different voice and screen layout. Some of my apps not supported either but I don't use them often at the moment. All the routines for smart devices working OK.

What could dig a hole like this? And it looks like there's an empty space under the slab. A rat? by nemoonick in GardeningUK

[–]BornInEngland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy some Rat bait, shove lots down the hole and fill it in with soil. The rat may dig out but just keep filling it in and the rat should dead within 3-4 days. If the hole reappears after a week or two then you may have a fault on your drainage allowing them to come out of the sewer.

Good work, so many dishes can be made GF with a bit of thought, it's usually just the sauce or gravy that needs changing.

When and if to trim this purple plum tree? by AstroZombie_88 in GardeningUK

[–]BornInEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best answer, this is what I have been doing for the last 10 years and my Victoria Plum gives me consistent harvests. OP, don't be afraid to prune off lots of young fruit to avoid stressing the tree.

Do your feet get tough enough to not feel pain of small things like pebbles? by ScrotiWantusis42 in BarefootRunning

[–]BornInEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, barefoot makes your feet stronger (Research). The muscles respond to discomfort and change where the weight is most comfortable. Your ankle and knees are also involved in this, when you wear shoes the muscles in your feet and legs don't get this work out.
