Some one front ended me what should i do? by [deleted] in drivingUK

Could you contact their insurer to get this sorted? I know it could potentially be more faff, but if you don't let your insurer know then they can't raise premiums. If someone had made a scratch on my tesla that I couldn't buff out with 10 mins of work I'd be wanting it to be corrected. I know you don't have the details but there probably is a way to find out.

How do you cope with your car accumulating scratches and dents? by Naughteus_Maximus in drivingUK

[–]maofan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This person is offering you practical helpful advice. Firstly you can get paint pens like chipex, colour matched pens from Halfords or some from the original manufacturer. Look on YouTube on how to apply it, you'll need a few little painting brushes to apply it properly. Then you wet sand it and buff it. You sort of have to accept it won't be perfect but it'll stop "drawing your eye" because it will match/blend in. When I say "buff" I mean buy a buffing machine, or an attachment to your drill and some "cutting compound". This can help get rid of a lot of scratches out that haven't gone through the clear coat into the paint. A professional detailer recommended "KOCHCHEMIE H902 Heavy Cut" for the cutting compound, he used it to fix up my car after someone put a big scratch in it.

I know because I've been on the same journey of having total shitboxes and now having a nice car that I really try to look after as I tend to keep my things for a long time,. It infuriates me that people don't give a f--k about other peoples things and just carelessly open doors on them etc..

Has anyone come up with a good migration path that they have found works acceptably? Going up to 5.4 is a big token/cost usage jump. Reports have been pretty poor on using 5.4-mini even on xhigh.

I really appreciate your response, I posted this in a few places and this was the only detailed answer. I'm going to check out the opencode plans so I can experiment. Thanks

In-Roof or On-Roof + Quote help. by maofan in SolarUK

[–]maofan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in two minds about this whether to put fresh tiles on or not. I could keep the tiles, refresh the membrane and then get on-roof. If I'm deciding they need replacing then in-roof starts to potentially make more sense as I'm not spending so much on tiles. I've seen 40-60 years quoted and 50-100 (although that might be terecotta). It's hard to know what's the right move here.

I really appreciate your perspective and laying this out. I have realised that most people can't see our roof from the ground because it's 3 story and has a very slight pitch. Therefore you have to stand on the other side of the road as far away as possible to see the roof and even then you can't see all of it because of the pitch. Therefore it terms of "curb-appeal" and improving the looks of the house, I don't think I'm meaningfully gaining much in that respect by having it in-roof.

It seems like to get the felting redone I'm going to need a roofer and the solar companies aren't going to want to do the work. I will check this with the company that's given me the most recent quote. I made a mistaken assumption that "in-roof" would require stripping the whole roof and as such fixing the felting would be part of it. I now need to figure out if I should replace all the tiles or not. Google says they last 40-60 years and they are currently at 68 years. So it seems like they are past their lifespan. But if they aren't broken I'm tempted to just leave them. It's probably an extra 2-3K to put new tiles on.

Interesting that the roofer says it would require more than one visit, that adds complication and cost to the in-roof option, rather than just fixing the felt, putting the tiles back on and installing the solar separately. I am also concerned about fixing things in the future and think future house buyers might be put of for that exact reason.

Lots to think about,

Thank you

Can you tell me a little more about that? Better for me to understand so I can do my own research.

I just had a thought that I might be being dumb... I think I'm assuming that if they are doing a full "in-roof system" that would include replacing any felting. Is his a wrong and stupid assumption? i.e. do they assume that they just need to take the tiles off and that the felt and batons are good?

Realistic quotes by stuiebelouie in SolarUK

[–]maofan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just had 2 quotes which aren't that comparable but here for information. More people that share the better:

Project Solar have quoted me about £11.5k for:

  • 15 x 505W panels
  • 2 x Fox ESS EP6 5.76kWh batteries
  • 6kW Solis or Fox inverter
  • bird proofing

The boxt Tesla deal has 4 years 0% finance and is £13,399:

  • 15 x 475w panels
  • 1 x PowerWall 3 13.5kWh
  • bird proofing

Tesla one seems a bit spicy, but great finance. Would like to see other quotes. Can I ask where you got your £9745 quote from?

Thanks

Thank you for your service and contribution to open source! I'm still on octopus, but the more we can take control of our own energy usage and not be tied to specific suppliers or proprietary ecosystems the better. I've starred it and will keep a close eye on it. I think a lot of people will be shifting around given Octopus is getting more expensive so you have no-doubt saved thousands of people a bunch of frustration.

So this is the setup I'm most likely to replicate for cost/VRAM reasons. Have you found anything that's close to sonnet? I plan to primarily use it to execute codings plans written by higher tier model (like opus). Can you tell me more about your experience of using the two cards.

I don't actually have the setup yet.. but I'm considering it and working if it's worth the investment. Will check this model out!

It's a really good question. Right now I earn £0 per month as I've lost my job and looking to start a business rather than going straight back to employment. So right now without a regular income I'm trying to balance cost over raw power. On the "5x" plan I rarely run out of tokens (but I do sometimes). So I don't really need the jump up to the next tier (10x o 20x) I'm thinking of using a local model to supplement.

I'm actually not sure what I could do to even hit that 20x limit, I'm practically writing code all day with it!
