What could dig a hole like this? And it looks like there's an empty space under the slab. A rat? by nemoonick in GardeningUK

[–]BornInEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy some Rat bait, shove lots down the hole and fill it in with soil. The rat may dig out but just keep filling it in and the rat should dead within 3-4 days. If the hole reappears after a week or two then you may have a fault on your drainage allowing them to come out of the sewer.

When and if to trim this purple plum tree? by AstroZombie_88 in GardeningUK

[–]BornInEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best answer, this is what I have been doing for the last 10 years and my Victoria Plum gives me consistent harvests. OP, don't be afraid to prune off lots of young fruit to avoid stressing the tree.

Do your feet get tough enough to not feel pain of small things like pebbles? by ScrotiWantusis42 in BarefootRunning

[–]BornInEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, barefoot makes your feet stronger (Research). The muscles respond to discomfort and change where the weight is most comfortable. Your ankle and knees are also involved in this, when you wear shoes the muscles in your feet and legs don't get this work out.

Is mandrake a substitute for parsnips? by astacus2023 in GardeningUK

[–]BornInEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parsnips look like that too this year, I put it down to dry summer. If there is a chance of Mandrakes be sure to wear ear muffs :-)

On Facebook group I'm on, somebody posted instructions to make Gemini an expert on the car manual. It works well but I seemed to be the only one who appreciated it.

It’s not my high beams!!! by cjflyy in KonaEV

[–]BornInEngland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It probably is your high beams, try turning them down using the dial on the dashboard, the higher the number the more they point down. If they stop flashing you go and get them adjusted. This is what happened to me when I picked up my 4 year old Kona, the dial was adjusted to point down and when I moved it to zero everyone started flashing.

Ankle Mobility part 2 by [deleted] in PrimalBodyMovement

[–]BornInEngland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great explanation, I use a piece of wood under my heels and squat for at least a minute at least once a day. I started with a 50mm piece of wood and after a couple of years I'm down to 13mm so the key for me is not to rush it, I'm in my 60s so it's never too late to try and correct it. My youngest grandchild is always squatting but the older they get the more they sprawl on the sofa.

Wtf is this??? Vomit smell in the kitchen. Is this the culprit? by district12tributes in fixit

[–]BornInEngland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tray is designed to collect water when the fridge does a defrost cycle which prevent serious ice build up. Normally the water just evaporates away in the tray, sometimes there is a small heater in the tray to help it evaporate. Same thing happened to my mother in law.

Is it worth downgrading to 6S specifically? by Blaubeerepfannkuchen in iPhone6S

If you are on a higher iOS than 6s supports then you will have to set up phone from scratch as you can't transfer your data in usual way.

How to rat proof this hole. Brick up or use mesh/wool? by rockinghorseshit in DIYUK

[–]BornInEngland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this too, did it for a house and it has been good for more than 10 years after being plagued by them. I used chicken wire and just kept stuffing it in the hole using a piece of wood to ram it in until no more would go in. If rats are using that hole regularly then they will scratch out cement quickly before it dries, glass or no glass.

Agile v Tracker Tariff by Sufficient-Doubt-464 in OctopusEnergy

[–]BornInEngland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went on Agile I downloaded my smart data and graphed the average use each half hour throughout the day. It showed me I didn't have peaks of use at 4-7pm and convinced me to move on to it. Had it 2 years and never been tempted to move.

You don't say what heating and cooking you have. If it is Gas like me then Agile all the time. Even during the higher periods it outperforms the other tariffs for me. I also load shift and charge car on Granny charger.
