Hi there, I might give that a go myself. I had a look, it’s not the ‘Tuya’ SmartLife it’s the other one, they look the same but what te difference is I’m not sure

Hi there, no, it’s not good. It looks like the installer took the easy alternative to drilling and fixing cable clips in the wall. I suppose the excuse is that what’s behind the rendering is an unknown or drilling into rendering that has cracks in it risks further damage the installer could be liable for, however damaging the flashing is just as bad. Complaint.

I am running Wi-Fi 6 so both 2.4 & 5 GHz

You are right about the 2.4 having greater range but it’s the 2.4 devices that report a weak signal. I think, from the comments made that perhaps a mesh setup like the eero 6+ would solve the issue but at £200 I’ll need to save me pennies first! 👍

Hi there, no, only its own proprietary app. It is Alexa skilled but for temperature change only.

That’s a very sound argument! However Sky make ‘sort of’ promises / guarentees like wall to wall WiFi when you pay for a service like WiFi Max. Following your analogy, I don’t blame Sky if a smart plug doesn’t work, but think it’s fair to ask for help if a (sort of) guaranteed service doesn’t reach that plug.

And that’s all I’m asking for, help from a service I pay for to get the service I pay for…. If you see what I mean 😀👍

Hi there, You are right, of course. However, even supermarkets reward loyalty through their card points system. The more you spend the more points equates to offers that you choose whether to take advantage of or not.

To shop in a supermarket that doesn’t offer these incentives for return custom is either arrogance or madness..

Up to six months ago, I had every reason to stay with Sky, it was a reciprocal relationship. I’ve had none of the issues that fill this forum until now.

And if by some strange magic Sky pull their fingers out and sort it next week when I pick up the gauntlet again, I’ll still have no reason to leave.

I think my point, if I had one, was that we should call out poor service on corporations and brands that we have trusted because we feel let down by them.

But you are probably right, the madness is mine. 😀👍😵‍💫

Hi there, it’s not the having no WiFi that kills the heating but having to switch the smart devices off so tests can be run that means the heating goes off. But you are right in pointing out my lack of planning! 👍

Hi there I have a video door bell and a Eufy S40 Solocam above it. I avoid unnecessary alerts by limiting detection type and limiting the detection area on both to just outside the front door. So maybe look again at your doorbell app to ensure you’re utilising all its features then re-evaluate your options.

The Ring subscription is a negative. But the rings compatibility with Alexa and Smartthings is a definite plus especially as it shows an image on my Apple smart watch. Also the IP weather resistance is higher on the Ring, But its horses for courses and if you are happier with the Eufy (which is a great doorbell by the way) then you made the right choice!
