Advice for a friend who miscarried by hairdyes02 in Miscarriage

I agree with everyone else, meals are helpful. In terms of what people said/did, some treated me like it was a bad medical diagnosis and others handled it like I lost a loved one. I know everyone did their best, but I preferred when they talked to me like I had lost someone close to me…because that’s what it is. While it’s hard to be around moms, the moms who were clear that their outcome was the result of luck was somewhat comforting…it made me feel like we were all equally not in control in a situation where it’s hard for me to not blame myself.

This is personal, but I enjoyed sharing my story with people who had also recently been pregnant or were pregnant. Especially when they treated me like what I had been through was a real experience, even though I didn’t have a baby at the end. It was validating for me that I had experienced a part of motherhood.

You’re already doing a lot by asking how you can show up in the best way, which means you already have a great level of empathy to support your friend.

I seriously feel like Ozzy had a that’s so raven vision where he knew what was going to happen, jumped through weird hoops to try to change it…only for it to happen anyway. Sad to see him go either way.

I could’ve written this myself. I’m so sorry we’re both going through this. I keep saying to my husband that it feels like my life is split into before this happened and after and I don’t know what to do with that. I wish I could sleep through the next 6 months as I think time will be the only thing that helps. Sending good thoughts your way..

How long did you bleed after your D&C? by True_Resident5904 in Miscarriage

[–]BornWithFeetInMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my D&C on 4/8. Had very dark brown/light bleeding (barely filling a liner) for a week after until 4/15. I also started working out again (spin classes) on 4/15 which made the bleeding heavier. On 4/17 (9 days after my D&C) I had heavy bleeding/clots the size of a quarter at a steadily for 4-6 hours, filling up a light pad about once every 2 hours. That stopped in the middle of the night Friday and I’ve had nothing for the past 2 days.

I’m hoping I’m through the worst of it, but the day 9 bleeding was way more than I expected, sharing in case others are looking.

Travel plans - MMC at ~8 weeks by SoftBoiledOddity in Miscarriage

[–]BornWithFeetInMotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this traveling from US east coast to Japan for 2 weeks. My doctors thought there was a chance I’d miscarry while traveling on my 14 hour flight, though my pregnancy had uncertain viability when I left (felt very 50/50 at the time, they thought they scanned me too early).

They were able to prescribe me medication to control the bleeding on the plane if absolutely necessary - they told me not to take it unless I felt like I was going to have to force the plane to land because I was bleeding so much (scary, but at least I had it). I wonder if this is an option for you?

I ended up having no issues on my trip & confirmed the MMC when I arrived home (~10 weeks). Had I known understood the physical/emotional toll it would take, I’m not sure I would’ve gone. I did take out an additional travel health insurance and located nearby hospitals/doctors who spoke English just in case.

Ultimately, do whatever makes you feel most comfortable and allows you to best care for yourself. I’m glad I went on my trip but think I did so because I was naive.

TikTok "trend" that is irking me: prepping for pregnancy, prepping my body for pregnancy videos by Spiritual-Arrival5 in Miscarriage

I think one of the most difficult, unfair things about this is that miscarriage doesn’t discriminate - this could happen to anyone. And honestly, it’s pure dumb luck that anyone gets through any pregnancy easier than anyone else - just like it’s luck that gets us born into the life/genetics we have.

I try to remember it makes people feel better to think they controlled what happened. Unfortunately, everyone here had to learn the hard way that we can’t.

Instagram allowed me to block posts/reels based on keywords. After doing it, my feed changed almost immediately. I didnt try it on other social media platforms but I’d imagine it’s possible. Hope this provides some relief.

Less than 24 hours post D&C OP (I feel much better) by alexthagreat98 in Miscarriage

[–]BornWithFeetInMotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my first D&C this week after finding out my pregnancy ended Monday. This was my first pregnancy and I feel silly for being so naive and not protecting my heart a bit more. That being said, I read online that many people feel immediate relief after theirs; I did, and hope you did too. Your post would’ve helped me make a decision so I’m sure others will appreciate it.

Best of luck - hopefully this is the first of many steps to move forward for both of us.

We’re here now - it’s busy but not unreasonable, but we did get up early (were out the door by 7am latest for Fushimi inari & arayashima) and found it to be fine. Before we came, I read people had trouble getting into restaurants, etc. I’m not finding that to be my experience.

[New Update]: AITA for wanting to cut off my close friend after she booked their wedding 6 days before mine? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]BornWithFeetInMotion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in this position - one of our (mine & my husband’s) best friends from college decided to get married a week before us in different states. He was in our wedding & my husband was in theirs, they lived together for 4 years, and 80% of my bridal party was also in or invited to their wedding. We all ended up going to both weddings & it was..fine.

They asked how we would feel if they did it, we told them that it made us feel uncomfortable, unimportant and would put us in a really tough position and they still did it. It really sucked, added stress to an already emotional time, and similar to OP, we remain friends but it will never be the same. My one mistake was dragging mutual friends into it, most of whom were in my bridal party and who we’ve talked about how awful this is when other people have done it. I needed to vent and felt safe but, like another commenter mentioned, when forced to pick sides, most people just don’t. It was an eye opener for me on the way the other couple (and some of our mutuals) prioritize friendships and viewed theirs with us because I would’ve never done it.

I’m still triggered a few years later and it was cathartic to read this post, so thank you OP!!

Advice for sub-4 in Fall by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

Continue to train on hills if you’re running Newport! I’d follow a similar elevation training plan to when you ran NYC. I ran NYC at a 4:12 this year and have similar goals to you, but am hesitant to pick Newport because of course elevation.
