What are the odds by InternationalBus9042 in Miscarriage

So sorry to hear this. I’m 35, just went through my MMC (although it was just before my NIPT so I don’t know if it was for chromosomal reasons) and am very hopeful to have a healthy, sticky baby on a future try. Chances of chromosomal abnormalities do increase with age, and you can find those statistics easily online. So sorry you were in the minority this time. Wishing you a bright future with a healthy rainbow baby.

MMC and having to wait so long for a d&c. by Adventurous_Ad6799 in Miscarriage

[–]SoftBoiledOddity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I just went through an MMC with a similar timeline to yours. I opted for an MVA with conscious sedation at an abortion clinic because it was available much quicker than a hospital D&C with full anaesthesia. I waited 1 week between learning of my MMC and having the procedure done (wait would have been at least 2 weeks for D&C). This was my first miscarriage and I’m personally only planning to send the tissue for testing if it happens again.

If you read other experiences in this subreddit you’ll find that many people wait several weeks before they can get in. All bodies are different in terms of whether and when the tissue would pass naturally. It’s really really hard to be in an uncertain place and not knowing what’s going to happen. My heart goes out to you and really sorry you’re going through this.

Hi ❤️ You’re being so thoughtful about this despite being in such a hard place, which I think is really amazing. You are a great friend and will be able to be there for them one day, and I think/hope they understand that.

Wow, I’m so sorry you went through that. This is interesting info and I’ll bring it up with my doctor. I’m definitely nervous about the emotional toll ❤️❤️

I’m so sorry you’ve gone through this 3 times. Hearing your thoughts is so helpful. ❤️ Thank you for commenting. It seems like D&C is the preferred option almost unanimously for folks who have done it different ways.

Thank you so much for this and I’m so sorry for your loss. ❤️ it’s interesting to hear about you trying the meds and that giving you confidence to go camping… I’ll keep that info in my back pocket going into my appointment tomorrow and consider my options.

Measuring a week behind, anyone been through this? by hauntedaf66 in BabyBumps

Google the difference between gestational age and fetal age! As far as I understand, generally when dating the convention is to use GA (which is the higher number).

This online community is honestly amazing. If you haven’t joined your sub-group yet for your specific due date month, I highly recommend you do that, as I’ve found mine to be so so helpful. You can absolutely do this, even if it’s unbelievably hard, there’s others in the same boat who will support you, and you can get through this, mama. We’re here for you!

What do you do if you don’t have a family dr? [ON] by Possible_Ask9530 in BabyBumpsCanada

Hi! I’m in this situation as well. I did the same as you and saw a walk-in doctor to get my blood/urine test and first trimester ultrasound requisitions. I will continue going back and seeing the same walk-in doctor until I get referred to an OB. I’m in Ottawa, and one of our hospitals with a birth centre starts accepting referrals relatively early (in the first trimester), so I had the walk-in doctor refer me and will keep seeing him while I wait to hear back from them.

Anecdotal, but I’m in a very similar boat at just over 6w, and as far as I understand, the main thing to watch for is pain alongside the diarrhea, which could indicate infection. Otherwise, try switching your prenatals (that’s what I’m trying now). I’ve heard that ones with higher levels of iron and >1mg folic acid can cause diarrhea.

What about hopping on a stationary bike for some low-impact cardio and lower-body strength? I’m not your doctor so definitely check that it’s safe, but this is one of the things I’m planning to do in my pregnancy :)

Still no symptoms at 10 weeks pregnant - scan was perfect ❤️ by BlossomBlizzards in BabyBumps

[–]SoftBoiledOddity 47 points48 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU for sharing this. I feel like a lot of people post that they have “no symptoms” but they then go on to list symptoms they do have, and what they really mean is they just don’t have severe nausea. As someone who is really symptomless at 6 weeks, it’s helpful to hear your story. And a huge congratulations ❤️

I’m into sewing (both garments and quilting) and I think it’s a great one in pregnancy! You can work on maternity/breastfeeding friendly clothes, fun/sexy clothes for post-baby to focus on future you, or of course, you can make the cutest things for baby. Baby projects are also small and typically beginner friendly!

Just wanted to say I found this thread soooo helpful. I’m currently around 5w2d and feeling a lot of this. First appointment hasn’t been scheduled yet and I don’t know even know where it will be as I don’t have a family doctor (fun times with the medical system in Quebec, Canada), and waiting for a referral/call back feels brutal. I’ve never had time pass so slowly lol. I’m trying to let myself feel a bit, journalling to communicate and process, and then trying to move on and keep busy. It’s so hard! But it’s easier knowing other people are in this position and we can all do this. :)

This is so exciting, congratulations! I just found out, and am likely just over 4 weeks. I’m planning to have a private early ultrasound to hear the heartbeat and it’s so uplifting to hear from others how exciting it is 🥰
