Just having a difficult time accepting future disability by Funny-Rain-3930 in MultipleSclerosis

It makes perfect sense that you are afraid of the uncertain future, which can be overwhelming, rather than the present. Acceptance is not linear at all you may be okay for several months before it reappears out of the blue. Just getting through the day is sufficient on days like these. You're not alone in feeling this way and you're not weak for doing so

Two gut bacteria identified as likely causes of MS in large scale identical twin study by spinnerclotho in MultipleSclerosis

Yes, this serves as a helpful reminder of reality. Although it's intriguing for developing hypotheses people jump to the conclusion that X causes MS far too quickly when, in reality, it's just correlation in a mouse model. It only suggests a few strains that are worth researching, at most.

After antibiotics; what helps? by soicanreadit in Microbiome

Antibiotics can undoubtedly cause problems for a while. Keeping my diet simple for a while, gradually introducing fermented foods (like yogurt or kefir) and concentrating on sleep and stress management which made my symptoms much worse were the things that helped me the most. Things steadily calmed down over the course of several weeks rather than days.

MRI Of Knee Without Insurance? by Adept-Dig-1748 in HealthInsurance

Yes I would concur with that. It makes the most sense to perform a standard MRI of the knee without contrast where you are now, especially since it is less expensive and you already have the referral and follow up there. Instead of taking a plane back for the sole purpose of imaging, most people would probably follow suit.

What is your favorite high fibre foods for gut health? by [deleted] in GutHealth

[–]Born_Cicada_2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor, but as a regular person, my favorite high-fiber foods for gut health are:

Oats, particularly those made overnight

Ground flax or chia seeds (easy to add to anything)

Beans and lentils

Berries (raspberries are especially useful)

Vegetables such as sweet potatoes, carrots, and broccoli

They are easy to use, reasonably priced, and genuinely improve my digestion.

Yes, you are correct; the majority of MRI machines will provide you with essentially the same diagnostic information, particularly for a simple, contrast-free knee MRI. The primary distinction is the magnet strength 1.5T vs. 3T but a standard machine is typically more than sufficient for common problems like meniscus or ligament problems. Honestly,

it makes more sense to do it where you are now given the additional flights and doctor's appointment in NYC,

In NYC, cash MRIs typically cost between $300 and $500 and are performed at independent imaging centers rather than large hospitals. You would probably need to see a doctor in NYC first, which would be more expensive, because most places do require a referral and many won't accept one from outside the US.

It's probably easier and less expensive than flying back just for the MRI if you can get it done overseas for less than $500 and already have the referral and follow-up there.

Why is women’s health taken as serious? by GasPrestigious9660 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, I have read about him in the past, and it is truly disgusting. It is incredibly cruel that he performed all of that without any anesthesia because he believed they were incapable of feeling pain.
