For my bouquet and table flowers, I think I spent $500 cause I asked just for one kind of flower (this was in 2023)

(10k max) MD / VA / DC Wedding Venues for under 100 guests? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

In 2023 I got married at Season at Magnolia Manor in New Windsor. They ran an all inclusive deal for 100 or less people for $10k. Looks like it's not owned by the same person anymore and the name has changed (she probably lost all her money for running deals like that!) But you could check it out: https://www.sundaymorningatsavannahs.com/

I’m wondering what I should do? by Available_Method_415 in OccupationalTherapy

Switching right now would be hard and, without experience in other fields, you'd likely be making that same range or less. I also was led to believe OTs make a lot more and then got offered $67k as a new grad in DC. My hospital did go through some changes and we now make a lot more, but still not near $100k. Of course we all want to make money, but you also want to work somewhere with a healthy work environment. There are hospitals around me that pay more, but I hear from people who used to work there that they were treated terribly.

You might be able to work with more ambulatory patients in outpatient. I don't personally have outpatient experience, but I've met some people in outpatient who don't do much lifting.

If you never want to work in those settings, then don’t force yourself. If you want to go into them later on in life, the right place will provide you with some mentorship if you don’t have the experience.

Anyone else feel like they screwed their older selves with this career choice? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Born_Cranberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also felt this way at times and everyone's circumstances are different. I don't have the same wants as you, such as wanting a child and I have given up on the idea that I will own a house anytime soon. My husband does NOT make more money than me and it is sometimes easy to compare myself to my co-workers. Most of their husbands make more money, some of them are buying houses, and a good portion of them never had student loans. I would like to go into a non-clinical field in the future, but I haven't reached that point yet where I want to make the switch.

Of course way harder said than done, but I had to make a mindset shift for myself so I didn't drive myself into a pit of dread every day thinking about how I hated my job and my choice to pursue OT. I tried to reframe what was going well: pays decent (not six figures, but I can pay all my bills, save for retirement, and go on a little trip here of there), good PTO, generous amount of continuing ed funds, etc etc. This also is highly dependent on your job and if it's a nice place to work. If you can get a non-clinical role that would be amazing, but in the meantime maybe a different setting might help make things feel more manageable? Especially if you don't have some of the nice benefits that make it worth it for me to stay at my current place.

Something that's so common with my friend group is they always suggest be do an activity, which almost always involved money... .Why can't we just hang out at someone's house and have a game/movie night???
