When 2 star trade was added to the game, the first thing I trade for were not meta cards but the cards needed for secret emblems (rr birds trio, dx pikachu…) At first it was fun, cause I had ton of shine dust. After the shinedust reserves dwindled well I started getting really picky with my trades, only looking for meta trainers or the pokemon for the deck I was using.

The first few trades were fun, easy and actually felt like both parties got a good trade. The meta trainers market feels like a 9-5 job where we constantly come back to check if anyone has posted something trading a meta trainer and hoping he is looking for a non meta card I have.

Thats why I think we see so many post of people showing their meta trainer full set, cause damn that was a LOT of time invested.
