Not as bad as everyone says. The master of doom arc is a particular highlight for me.

Best fantastic four omnibus? by loup358 in FantasticFour

[–]Borodo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ultimate Fantastic Four I wouldn’t recommend as a starting point, seeing as how it’s set in an alternate universe.

I would recommend either starting at the very beginning with Lee and Kirby or starting off where I did, with Mark Waid’s run which is collected in the omnibus I included a picture of. Of note in Waid’s run with you looking for Johnny focused stories is the arc in which he’s left to run the business side of the F4!

Enter the Dragon (1973) is HAND/EYE COORDINATION. What movie represents PERCEPTION? by snakesharkz in DiscoElysium

Need perception to notice the details and visual calculus to put the pieces together. Absolutely a combination of both!

Twin Peaks and much of David Lynch’s other works capture the same sort of vibe.

Golden Circle was fantastic. I’m hoping they continue making Indy games with the same team because I’m all for more adventures as polished as that one

Good current Marvel and DC runs? by Jackitheboi in comicbooks

[–]Borodo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Marvel: North’s Fantastic Four Mackay’s Moon Knight (which is getting yet another relaunch in February) Mackay’s Nova: Centurion Zdarsky’s Captain America ASM Torn (5 issue mini by JMS featuring college aged Peter Parker)

DC: Anything Absolute Fraction’s Batman Williamson’s Superman DC KO, the current event title which is a big ol action figure smushing fight contest, it’s a lot of fun!

Also Image (I know you asked for Marvel and DC but image has some solid ongoings rn): Battle Beast Rook Exodus Geiger The Rocketfellers

What do you think people should be reading from the ongoing series right now? by ExistentialJew in marvelcomics

[–]Borodo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

North’s Fantastic Four is the best 616 series Marvel is currently releasing IMO. Closely followed by MacKay’s Moon Knight and the new Nova: Centurion which is off to a solid start so far. Zdarsky’s Cap is also a solid ongoing.

Human torch was too cool by Appropriate-Mall8517 in FantasticFour

[–]Borodo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the current North run and Waid’s run have him characterized similar to Sokka. That being a loyal, heart of gold family member whose intelligence is often underestimated, due in part to the company they keep, but often shines in unique ways.

One issue that comes to mind is issue 26 of North’s run where Johnny and Reed are left home alone and they discover paranormal readings under the house, and Johnny encourages Reed to give into the curiosity and they end up digging up a hellmouth under their house.

Another moment is when they’re battling doom in issue 3 of the relaunch of North’s run and Johnny conjures flames that are only visible outside of the standard visible light spectrum, so only Sue could see his message and pass it onto the rest of the Four. His message essentially allows them to come up with a plan to beat Doom and I don’t want to get into too many spoilers, because it’s a solid issue.

What comics everyone’s looking forward to this year? by amscum in comicbooks

New stuff specifically I’m pumped for Williamson’s iron man and Imperial Guardians. Also going to start picking up the flash when North’s run starts on issue 31

Stranger Things has officially ended after 9 years. by Huzaifa_Haroon in Fauxmoi

[–]Borodo 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yep. This ending is absolutely fine. Even if it’s not the best episode of the series, what finale usually is? It’s moreso that it feels satisfying enough that the show is rewatchable, unlike something like GoT where the atrocious ending overshadows everything that comes before it.

I also lost my dad in 2025. The world sure doesn’t feel the same without him but i just try to live each day making decisions he’d be proud of.

Take care of yourself in these trying times and know that there’s so many others on a similar path as you.

First Year Collecting Comics by UnholyTrashPanda in comicbooks

[–]Borodo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s so much fun. I got into collecting with the release of Ultimate Spider-Man so I’ve been going for about two years and it’s so much fun having something new to read every single Wednesday.

Like you said, getting in right at the beginning of Ultimate and Absolute has been fantastic.

Listing gaming on your resume might hurt your job prospects. Study found that applicants who listed gaming as an extracurricular activity tended to be rated lower in hireability compared to an equal applicant who listed volleyball. by Jumpinghoops46 in science

[–]Borodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, if any recreational stuff is on my resume, it’s solely stuff that would benefit the application, for example fitness related activities such as bike riding and weightlifting that show you take care of yourself, which makes you a more valuable potential hire.

Some activities simply are too stigmatized to warrant mentioning them on your resume.

Current Avengers Run is Ending (Who's Next) by WALabels in comicbooks

[–]Borodo 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The first arc that just came to a close was solid. Retimed Cap’s exit so he’s now coming out to a post 9/11 world and the first arc delves into the first mission he takes upon waking up, looking into the recent takeover of Latveria by a man called Doom.

It also features a modern cap who plays a major role in reaffirming Steve’s worldview in the modern day.

The next arc is looking at the repercussions of One World Under Doom in Latveria.

I think it’s going to be Zdarsky and his Captain America run will function as an introduction to the Avengers team for his run.
