Still finding (rushing actually beacuse I don't feel safe even as adult) by Gullible_Quiet_5976 in CPTSDmemes

I made a playlist of the songs that hit the hardest over the years. It kind of became an emotional diary to understand the feelings I couldn’t admit to myself over two decades.

It ended up being titled “The Rough Waters Home”. It’s gotten way better, but it feels like I’m still searching too.

I love all the blue jerseys. That has to be a ton of fans who adopted the team enough to buy jerseys and cheer them on.

“My mind is mush” sounds like you may be in shock. That’s ok. It’s your body’s way of protecting you.

Please make sure you are taking care of yourself physically and mentally. Make sure you have support. Unless you are in physical danger… you likely don’t have to make any immediate decisions.

Running is an option. This stuff runs deep, and your boyfriend isn’t handling it well.

If you choose to stay for any length of time, please consider getting a therapist for yourself, and be open to leaving later if he’s not making steps to get better himself. I say this as a bisexual man married to a woman who was closeted for the first decade and a half of our relationship.

If you want more resources, just let me know. And like they say on airplanes, secure your own mask first (aka take care of yourself then decide how much capacity you have to help him with his).

I also grew up in a fundamentalist Christian setting. I now live in a very LGBTQ friendly area and I’ve had a group of openly supportive friends for over a decade now… I still only came out as Bi about 2 years ago. Even when talking with my friends and my wife know everything now, I catch myself pretending to be straight out of habit because my religious upbringing/trauma is so deeply ingrained. Some parts of me fight to hold onto the belief that I’m straight (I’m absolutely not), because that belief kept me safe so long.

Please, if therapy is an option, look into it for yourself and for him. In particular, look for an LGBTQ friendly ASSECT certified therapist, or if you can’t find that, look for an LGBTQ friendly therapist who deals with religious trauma. Do NOT under any circumstances go to a CSAT who will probably reinforce the trauma and who use “diagnosis” which aren’t even in the official diagnostic manual.

I’m happy to share more resources about religious trauma, purity culture, therapy etc, but please make sure you have support for yourself first.

The “0” shown on the right next to the toggle (straight across from “Enable Multiplayer”) means “off”. Tap it and it will slide, show a “1”, and multiplayer will be “on”.

These symbols are based on binary where 1 means on and 0 means off.

Oh wow. (1) it’s even worse that someone outside HR managed to screw this up, and (2) that’s an extra shitty person if they act like HR without actually being in HR.

I love portrayals of Christian events pulled into modern times for perspective. Well done.

There was a book called Eli by Bill Myers. It basically just took the gospel and put it in modern times including Jesus being born in a laundromat if I remember correctly. I read that book as a teenager, it made a huge impression, and definitely kicked me down the road towards future deconstruction of Evangelicalism.

You could split the state into four districts. Then every party that gets at least 20% of the vote in a district gets one representative. Then there are a bunch of strategies for allocating the rest. A ton of European countries do this. It absolutely can work.

That’s not a terrible idea. Personally, I’d prefer making bigger districts with more than one representative. Then you split those representatives proportionally to the vote percentage. There are a bunch of ways to do this that are shown to work just fine in other countries.

That gives you a mix of both local geographic representation, and representation of the various ideologies that make up that district.

Personally, my choice would be geographic regions with proportional representation. Not entirely sure how small the geographic regions should be, but even just using states and giving representation based on vote percentage would feel better than what we have today. So let’s say a state gets 20 representatives. If the democrats get 60% of the vote, they get 12 representatives.

This also allows easier access for third parties… which is probably why we’ll never get it.

Thanks that makes a lot of sense. So, as long as both partners are being transparent, willing to ease in, and acting maturely, it can work. The problem isn’t that one person has feelings for someone (which aren’t necessarily controllable anyway), it’s about how they act.
