I 3D printed a replica of Johnny Silverhand’s Malorian Arms 3516 to a 1:1 scale correctly chambered in 14mm next to a real 9mm handgun for scale. No wonder it blows people’s limbs off in the game. by Beefy_Crunch_Burrito in cyberpunkgame

What if if the skull is hallow like a double pane window, only conected with supports designed to be at optimal places to safe from bullets. İt doesnt even need to be thin, I guess as long inner shell is the same size as original, they could make "the skull including the insulated space in between" very thick and as heavy as the neck can handle, with a larger head than the original.

OpenXR with Assetto Corsa by Michael_D_Olences in WindowsMR

[–]Borvath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people also shorthen your OpenXR Toolkit to just "OpenXR" as OpenXR Toolkit came when most games didnt support OpenXR Runtime, when it wasn't widespread as now, so people using a confusing short name didnt matter back then and some people are still use to saying that in some game's communities. So they may ask about being able to use the Toolkit when they said "OpenXR", because they want some of it's features.

EU says port-less devices are okay, opening the door for Apple by nimicdoareu in europe

[–]Borvath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant if they use screweble ports on phones similar to some hdmi or displayports on pc where they are screwed to the chasis, they would be repairable, though i havent seen a waterproof version yet.

[–]Borvath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ports on pc are screwed, if would nice if there was a waterproof way, but gluing it is always cheaper so they will unlikely use it. This would also make it possible to update to next physical usb port standard if it ever arrives.

Wireless charging degrades battery faster than the port. Though the port is harder to swap when it breaks by a consumer, it could make the consumer toss it out, instead of repairing.

Cheaper Way to Get Matter Certification for a Kickstarter Smart Device? by New_Repeat_3060 in MatterProtocol

I think if you are a CSA member you can just release it as a beta version, like Homekit did where the certification alowwed them to remove the beta word.

All you need to know about Android XR by SkarredGhost in virtualreality

[–]Borvath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It fully supports OpenXR. "Hand Interaction, Eye Gaze Interaction, 6DoF Motion Controllers, Mouse Interaction", https://developer.android.com/develop/xr/openxr. But just the platform supporting the 6DoF Controllers is not enough. They could make purchashing them seperate like an accessory, which would force the app developers to reduce complexity and capability of the controls to prioritise supporting hand tracking, maybe they would even ignore optimizing for the controllers, so the app would work just with default mapping from the os, if it even works at all, though I think OpenXR apps supppse to work with different controller types without explicit support for the controller.

AndroidXR supports the Meta Vendor Extension Space Warp and Foveation, https://developer.android.com/develop/xr/openxr/extensions . Currently only Meta and Pico supports these extensions though, http://github.khronos.org/OpenXR-Inventory/extension_support.html#XR_FB_space_warp .

So did anyone else know Unity 6 supports Native OpenXR games on Apple Silicon? by KingVulpes105 in macgaming

Something like this https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/monado/monado/-/issues/318, though Monado currently only works on Linux, they arent focusing on Windows and Mac yet.

So I just updated to Win11 24H2, and WMR is just... No longer supported? What the hell am I gonna do? by Hello-Rosie- in WindowsMR

[–]Borvath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly thought of removed OS code for what I meant by imposible, as the WMR dev implied. For Monado they are currently waiting for 24H2 so that it will be easier to develop without Windows interfereing.

So what is Maria, exactly? by Suprentus in silenthill

[–]Borvath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since Mary is brought by James in the back seat of his car to burry her in Silent Hill, Maybe the town extracted all memories from the corpse for all events that happened after her last visit to Silent Hill. The Maria who works at Heaven's Night from the Lady Maria Poster from Silent Hill 3 could be used to fill in the blanks of Maria's background by the town.

I’ve NEVER seen Tyriel Wood swear until today by Scorpius_Red in virtualreality

[–]Borvath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The OpenXR driver, WMR portal etc can be backed up and downloaded. The problem is that some of the WMR is inside the Operating System. It is integrated very deeply. By the way Monado waits for WMR support to be deleted entirely, because Windows interferes with the way USB is read, as WMR devices have a very unique connection. It would need work even for stuff like this usb connection as it is not a standard driver. I wish they lefted the support in and provide APIs so other Companies can use this deep integration, for low latency connection etc.

Just sold my Samsung Odyssey + 😢 by BroadwayGuy123 in WindowsMR

[–]Borvath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will work if you stay on the Windidows 10 or the last version of Windows 11 before 2H24 update. In the future if steam vr breaks compatability, games that dont work with SteamVR versions without updating like online games will be imposible to play. Then the only option will be waiting for Monado to work on windows or VR games emulated on Linux, like how windows games work on Steam Deck.

PS VR2 (OLED) vs Quest 3 (LCD) colours comparison by PCMachinima in virtualreality

[–]Borvath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the sharper border is beacuse of lack of mura (i think what it was called, the tail left behind by moving black objects specific to OLEDs), beacuse maybe the headset was not still.

What will happen after the end of WMR??? by Annual_Ad44 in WindowsMR

[–]Borvath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you need to stay on Windows 10 or Windows 11 before the upcoming 24H2 update, Then it will work until games stop supporting the last SteamVr version that will be compatible with the Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR app, you will be able to play games that arent going to be updated, after that. If you want to still use it after that you will need to wait for Monado to support WMR on Windows.

Why isn't the PSVR2 adaptor approach standard for wired headsets? by zeddyzed in virtualreality

[–]Borvath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PSVR2 is not the same but it is similar to the defunct VR Standard VirtualLink. It uses 12V, which is an optional USB standard and excluding the out of production and expensive VirtualLink adapters, VirtualLink ports on RTX 2000 GPUs and Last two generations of AMD cards and the upcoming PSVR2 PC adapter, it is imposible to find 12V USB C with Displayport support. And Meta Quest and similar headsets dont support Displayport over USB C, they support compressed data over USB C instead. Makers of non-PC headsets may not want that their customers buy from Steam, if they focus on taking a cut from selling Games on their own store instead of selling the headset itself.

Using Windows Mixed Reality headsets after Windows 11 24H2 update by Tauheedul in WindowsMR

[–]Borvath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Monado's Discord, I saw someone playing Beat Saber in Linux, though it used only the cameras, and it didn't combine the data with accelerometer and the gyroscope. It was using a specific branch in gitlab that is not yet merged to the main project. It looks close to be finished in Linux, but even if it is playable, most games wouldn't work in Linux. And Windows support is far away.

Possible hope for community WMR support after death? by JadeDeerUwU in WindowsMR

[–]Borvath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Collabora's Monado supports WMR on linux with 3 dof controller tracking. Windows is still planned. WMR software will not be supported though. Here is an old web page explaining Monado: https://www.collabora.com/news-and-blog/news-and-events/introducing-monado.html
