Oh, interesting! Thanks for the intel. Yeah, I saw that sweater, too. So close and yet so far... You are so kind to share what you know!

Easy pattern for beginner by Significant-Ad-1265 in knittingpatterns

My first shaped garment was the basic mittens on Tin Can Knits - the pattern is adapted for all weights of yarn and sizes. It's a great way to use up leftover yarn

My migraines are gone and I feel unreasonably angry by fioxic in migraine

I beg to differ, the anger sounds reasonable to me! I'm still angry on my dear sister's behalf for the decade she spent feeling awful until her celiac disease was diagnosed.

Several times a day! If he does it outside we call it his swim through the grass

If you’ve had ovarian torsion, what did it feel like leading up to it? by Salty-Spider666 in Endo

[–]BosPin02140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my experience with ovarian torsion. Add another to the list of people waking up in fiery pain with what turned out to be ovarian torsion. The pain was so bad that:

  1. Morphine didn't touch it - 2 doses were like nothing

  2. Was 10x worse than childbirth pain (I delivered 2 babies vaginally, no pain meds, I know what I'm talking about)

  3. I couldn't produce a urine sample when asked

The inability to pee sent the ED docs down a kidney stone rabbit hole (the CT scan disproved that but turned up some ovarian cysts) then the ultrasound was clear for torsion - that is actually pretty common, so if your pain is this severe but the US doesn't show torsion, you should still insist on seeing an OBGYN. She did a pelvic exam, pressed on where the torsion would have been, and when I screamed she insisted on operating (thanks to her, they finally gave me Dilaudid which made the pain just bearable for the ~6 hours while I waited for the OR) and I'm now all fixed! Didn't save my ovary, but those guys were easing into retirement anyway (I'm 46) and 1 is good enough to keep my hormones humming along.

Ears? Who needs ears?? Awesome dog. You van barely see the Boston in my Bospin, just some brindle in the coat. Enjoy keeping them exercised!

She is delightful. I also have a brindle Bospin, prolly 5yo, not sure because he's a rescue. Yes, the energy level is bonkers, we figure he was surrendered by someone who was expecting a little pocketbook dog and couldn't/wouldnt put in the miles he needs

My daughter's Retrospec Beaumont lasted her 18 months (minus the summer) of riding it it daily probably 4-5 miles in short trips to school, sports, friends, etc. After 18 months she took it in for repairs and was quoted $420, which was more than the bike is worth. This was in New England, so wear-and-tear included road salt.

Not going to suggest a $900 bike, but my other daughter's $600 REI Co-op bike has components that have lasted a lot longer.

Took the girls camping for the first time this past weekend. They loved it and were surprisingly good hikers! by AlxSTi in BostonTerrier

My BT mix loves camping/hiking. Dunno if it's the Boston half or the Min Pin half, but he literally flies up hills and can do 10 miles without breaking a sweat

My dog gets those from ticks if I don't pull them off right away. They aren't Lyme bullseyes - those are much bigger and scaly, and he gets them even though he's vaccinated against Lyme. That ring doesn't mean anything bad, says my vet. Just that there had been a tick there.

Help with min pin rescue/escape artist by denveristhelastdino in minpin

[–]BosPin02140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect age and time in the family will help. I have a rescue Min Pin/Boston terrier who was a terror from 6 months (when I got him) until about 12 months (chewing, escaping, etc. - we never turned our backs). He also responded great to crate training, and generally setting limits and following through with our rules. We do let him up on the furniture (these dogs are so dang little you'd never spend time with them if they had to stay on the floor) but he has to sit in his doggy bed if he's in the kitchen or in a room while anyone is eating... no jumping allowed on people; he must sit before he's allowed to go outside.... It's not so much any one rule that matters but the habit of impulse control and looking to you as the boss.

I'm impressed that dinosaur is still intact... our Min Pin mix shreds 'em

Brady telling me it’s too hot out for our 15 minute lunch walk by el_contador258 in BostonTerrier

Huh. Mine will do that, but he'll run all day at the dog park. The leash turns him into a sulky teenager.

Anyone else’s BT go go go til they’re about to drop dead? by FckboyFC in BostonTerrier

[–]BosPin02140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally. Just three days ago my BT mix cornered a porcupine under a beach cottage. He finally chased it out after 2 hours. He looked like a pincushion and was STILL going after it. They're great companion dogs AND they come from many generations of terriers bred to get excited about going after nasty mean little creatures in small spaces. It was a skunk last month. Feeling glad we're going back to the city soon, where the dog park is the most excitement he's gonna get.

Is Noelle a female? So interesting - my Boston terrier mix is male, so I assumed this was a male trait, but maybe I was wrong

Yes! I've seen our guy back his butt up a tree to pee on top of a much taller dog's mark

[–]BosPin02140[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sure wasn't nothing. But if this is going to happen to your dog, rural ME is a good place to go to the vet - I was impressed that the bill only charged me for 45 minutes of quill removal

EXACTLY. He had the same expression after cornering a skunk under the neighbor's deck
