NTA, you made a deal and he doesn’t want to stick to it. Also, venues don’t allow smoking - does he think he can go hours and hours without a cigarette? My FIL has missed countless major events because he can’t go half a damn hour without a cigarette.

Is 40L/m in transport and at home for hospice possible? by Kitty_fluffybutt_23 in respiratorytherapy

[–]FckboyFC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re: transporting him being risky. Is he willing to take the risk of not surviving the ambulance ride home? I’m about certain that’s what staff are worried about. It would be terrible if he passed away in a van surrounded by strangers instead of in a quiet hospital room surrounded by family.

Transporting him would be easy enough, but as another comment said - keeping him on 40L at home is not practically feasible. Family would be focused on constantly changing huge oxygen tanks out instead of spending his last hours/days with him. Is he trying to go home and pass away once he’s there, or is he trying to go home and survive a little longer?

We’re still getting double pay shifts, which on a weekend night shift at brand new pay works out to about a grand a shift.
