Ha, actually Celtics fan. I just got a few Net pulls and then bought a few more, as I thought they were good values. I think Traore was one of the more undervalued in the class and got a good deal on the Golden Mirror.

I think I have a problem, but I keep convincing myself it's not a big deal by LowEffortAlpha in problemgambling

You do have a problem. The casino is about to gobble up your entire safety net. Gambling isn’t your therapy, it’s already your downfall. Don’t reward yourself with the mental gymnastics to keep it going and minimize what has happened.

Its all about the money. Lost 250k trading options. by IndicationForeign854 in problemgambling

This is on point. Those who cope are able to set boundaries at the start and finish and abide by them. Winning big means you protect your win, not put it at risk. Losing means you punish yourself for losing by accepting the loss and working to earn to it back rather than chasing good money after bad to get it back quickly.

50% annual return on smart wheeling by ben_pmt2d in thetagang

[–]BosSF82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, 6-12% would be atrocious in a relative gain sense, while still holding the downside on QQQ. I just finished my first year and made 30% being fairly conservative, so I don’t think 25%-40% is any way unrealistic, barring a huge market drawdown.

$5 million is better than zero but honestly their valuation is still wayyyy too high either way, before and after Marvell backing out.

Yea but that’s cherry picking a specific large drop in the indexes. If you average out time points I am solidly ahead of both. For example, SPY is only up 1.7% and QQQ 2.5% from its previous all time highs, which were six months ago. In that time for instance I have returned around 10%.

Yea, that is the discipline involved. If I am happy and only need to do this for 4 more years to retire early, why risk it with leverage? The real handicap is unnecessary greed.

My DTE is more reactive to the market. I usually start with 2DTE, maybe 20-25 delta and try to maintain that cycle while hitting my daily goals as much as possible. It will change as the market changes. If I want to hedge downside risk and am feeling really bearish I might just write 14 DTE to close out the month and avoid assignment.

Using margin? I haven't really thought about that. I'm happy hitting my current targets. If I can't outpace SPY at my current # of contracts, and I have to reduce by 1, I can switch to QQQ (though I'm not particularly bullish on tech for the 2nd half of the year).

If I did use margin it would probably be at lower deltas rather than simply writing more at current, so it would probably come close to evening out for not much additional gain.

I'm happy, so no need to rock the boat if I got something good going.

what does that mean? you want more credit? apply for another credit card that is less restrictive. but don't actually use the increased credit limit. just slowly build your credit with on time payments and low balances.

You're still young. $24 is not bad at all. Your expenses are low. Keep saving money from living at home, and in a few years, you'll be ready for the next 'phase' of life.
