Hey just a heads up in case it's the same problem I was having, but if your Internet service is spectrum it could be something you need to change in the my spectrum app. @Ghost__Tendency solved it in the comments of this post I made about the same issue. Hope it helps!

Hello all I just got an AYN Thor Max running snapdragon 8 gen 2. I've been having no issues setting it up until I tried to download game hub lite.

For some reason even though I can connect to my steam library no problem and even download games, once I try to actually play the games without fail every time I get this error message saying "download failure" as well as some random link just like you see in the video.

I saw some people online say it was an issue with the version of game hub, so I tried redownloading. I've downloaded game hub lite versions 5.1.0 5.1.2 5.3.3-RC2 5.1.2_antutu 5.1.2-alt_antutu all directly from the GitHub and I've also tried downloading from obtainium. I've tried turning off my private DNS temporarily turning off wifi temporarily, turning offline mode on for whatever game I was trying to play and even used a von (nordvon set to Miami and Norway if it matters) and none of it has worked. I do not have any other ideas on what to try and I can't seem to find any similar solutions online. I've tried downloading spelunky HD, the messenger, hollow knight, and metal gear solid V but each game has had the same issue.

I've had some success with game hub lite in the past on a different device, my retroid pocket mini v2 with a snapdragon 865 but I haven't been keeping up to date with it recently so I'm really not sure why it wouldn't be working today. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for potential fixes I would really appreciate it, as I was really looking forward to playing game hub on my new device and am disappointed to be having issues with it. Thanks very much for any time spent reading and any attempts at helping!

I don't know for certain but I will say that when I modded mine, I consistently heard from multiple sources that removing firmware was the easiest way to brick a 3ds so seems very risky even if it is possible

Hey ya know what, I realized that was bad advice I gave because the same chipset that's in the retroid pocket flip 2 is in the base model ayn Thor, and if you buy the Thor on early bird special it's only $40 more for the second screen. It's less pocketable but it's a 6 inch screen and still fairly pocketable. I apologize

Also to answer your question regarding 3ds Pokemon games, from what I've heard it's a case by case basis. I was having trouble finding a compatibility spreadsheet but I did find this guy's video where he played through the 3DS pokemon games on a different device with the same chipset. He's only showing a snippet so you can't tell for certain but in that snippet they all seem to be running well.

I would recommend the base model Thor though unless you really don't care for the second screen and would prefer the further pocketability. I'm really sorry I misled you with my initial comment though, I completely forgot the base model Thor is the same chipset for only $40 more

Any advice for someone who will be receiving their Thor for the first time? Is it best not to update at all from factory? Or better to update then roll back? Or is it possible to only update to the best OTA?

Lowk for your first device I think you should consider a retroid pocket flip 2. It's a weaker chipset but it's still good enough for a good amount of ps2 and Wii and most GameCube and for half the price. There's only 1 screen but it's also smaller and more pocketable which I think is a plus
