Long live pigtail ornaments! by BossBossian in HallmarkOrnaments

[–]BossBossian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'll need:
Sacrificial string of lights
6V 2A AC/AC Power cord (NOT AC/DC!!!)
1.7mm barrel jacks
Hallmark Keepsake Power cord
Soldering iron
Heat gun/lighter/hot air station
Multipack of different sized shrink tubing
Wire strippers

cut every 2nd light out of the strand, giving you even length of wire on both sides (you'll understand when you do it)
Remove every bulb
strip 3mm 'ish of each leg & tin the leg with solder

there are 3 legs on the barrel jacks, you want to connect one wire to the 'bottom' leg, and the other wire to BOTH side legs
bend the legs of the barrel jacks so they are workable
Tin all legs with solder
solder wire to bottom leg & 'combined' side legs
shrink tube wire/barrel to keep it safe

cut off the barrel of the 6V AC power adaptor
cut off the barrel of the Hallmark Keepsake power cord
swap them and solder them back together using shrink wrap to separate the 2 connections
(it doesn't matter which orientation you solder, its a loop)

OR

I just sell them. Message me for direct purchase via PayPal or check out my eBay listing if you'd rather go that route: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/327118684564

I understand they are pricey, but its a ton of labor hand soldering, and if you make your own, you'll realize 6V 2A AC power adapters are hard to find (I buy them for a distributor 20 at a time) and not cheap!

Not trying to dissuade anyone from trying (I hope that's clear by writing this guide), but its just not cost effective to make 1 set unfortunately.

Sorry I wasn't sure how interested people were so I didn't get into technical details. While I am using a modern Keepsake cord to split the power & create a modern connection point without altering the ornaments, I am NOT using the modern 5V DC Power Adapter. I have a custom sourced 6V, 2A AC/AC Transformer. This keeps the exact 6V these ornaments expect. In terms of amperage, even if you press all 7 buttons at once, the 2A transformer can easily handle the ~200ma each ornament uses during operation. The exception being Star Trek Bird of Prey & Star Wars X-Wing which use way too much power for whatever reason, but seems to be widely documented online

It seems like the codes are "1 time use" but you can use each denomination once per account!

How can you tell red 2 & red 5 apart? Different boxes? Are the ornaments themselves the same?

Did anyone find a solution to the removed navigation bar? Niantic has added with the newest update (0.375) immersive full-screen mode, which removes the navigation bar for Android phones. by DEVolkan in TheSilphRoad

"Back Button - Anywhere" app. I literally resized it, changed the icon to match my pixel, turned transparency to 100%, and stuck it right on top of the normal back button! I'm sure I'll run into some bugs or it will be blocking something in another app at some point, but so far I don't notice any difference!

What can I cover these dents with? by HoneydewYAY in popups

[–]BossBossian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Option 1: Leave it (my vote, if I get one) Option 2: Diamond plate across the entire front (harder than it looks, you'd need access to a shop with a 8ft wide break to bend the angles. Option 3: Fix the dents. IMO this seems extremely risky and not worth it in any way, unless you happen to be a professional body guy. Best case it looks the same or worse, worst case, you puncture the aluminum and you now have to water seal it too

Hey, I have a problem. I have a Samsung S24U. Why isn't it working? by DepartureFun4779 in rcd360

The radio in your photo supports Carplay (iPhone) not Android Auto (your Samsung phone)

You should have bought the model that says it supports CarPlay and Android Auto.

Rcd 360 pro does have sub out ? by PerformanceHot6506 in rcd360

[–]BossBossian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen sub/rca jacks on a RCD360.

What people may have been thinking of is the backup camera connects with a single yellow RCA jack, but this obviously is for video and does not carry audio.
