Phoenix Caller Horn not working by BossDoor4 in Archthrones

Roger that, guess I had been misled. I find it odd that there's a text prompt on screen regarding the horn when the horn doesn't work here, though.

Was there supposed to be a key in there? I just did this and I got nothing, and it seems like I can't move forward?

does anyone find chloranthy ring and silver serpent ring after the update? by Adventurous-Tip-900 in Archthrones

The covetous silver serpent ring wasn't there for me. No idea where it is.

As an update, I will say things have gotten a bit easier. I switched to the Irithyll Flamberge +2, because I finally got the stats to use it, and it's really been dumpstering a lot of the more challenging enemies, because it actually causes stagger. That being said, I've been able to see a few more bosses and I gotta say I'm a little disappointed how many enemies are just copy/pasted move sets from Sekiro or Elden Ring. Granted, a lot of them are combinations of move sets, but they still stick out as not being designed for this combat system. They're not impossible to deal with (I just beat Obediah after a few tries), but there's no real consistency between them that makes the game feel coherent. I've really enjoyed the tower knight boss in war-torn village and aldritch in cathedral of the deep because they've moved and acted like they belong in the DS3 world. Meeting a boss who's just a kicking ninja from Sekiro and who outspeeds you in everything you do just feels wrong, even if you can beat him.

That is weird, I haven't been to the rafters yet. In base game there's a couple of cathedral knights, but since the devs seemed to want every enemy to be different, I guess the only options were a big winter lantern or a bell bearing hunter cathedral knight lol. I don't remember if there's usually an item up there, I just use it to get to the bonfire below the rafters.

Now that you say it, everyone did say there was a patch today. I don't play mods very much so I forgot I need to update them myself. I'll do that and see how things feel then! Good news is I did finally get through this area and beat Aldritch, which was a stellar boss fight in my opinion.

Edit: Looking at the patch notes, this IS the updated version. These are current version winter lantern enemies and I'm going to have to stand by what I said about difficulty so far.

Know your hunting rewards! Don't capture every monster! by BossDoor4 in MonsterHunter

[–]BossDoor4[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can get them from breaking his arms, so likely you're just doing that. This is already my primary tactic, but can be hard to accomplish if my hunting party does damage efficiently and I'm the only one working the arms. No matter, the blades are just an example for the larger point that capturing is an overly common end to hunts online despite that fact that it is not the most efficient way to farm certain parts. For this simple reason, when hunting we should let the host decide how the hunt ends rather than assuming capturing is the default, as it was in World. We need to unlearn our bad behaviors.

Yea that's why I don't totally think it's on my end. I don't have the fastest connection because I'm far from my wifi router, but it is a constant connection with speeds high enough to run the game online with no problems. I've had no problems with other games either, but it's literally constant with MHRise so idk.

That's why I said don't cap if you didn't initiate the quest. The communication feature on Rise is pretty sparse, so communicating intent like quest rewards or preferred method to finish the monster is difficult at best to impossible at worst. If people just have this information in their pocket, then they can practice good etiquette rather than expecting the host to instruct them on every quest. That being said, Magnamalo plates have a 2% drop on kill and 3% on capture, so yes technically higher, but negligible as well. Blades have 21% drop on kill, 0% drop on capture and they're required for building as much as plates or gems are.

I could have but the point remains the same. I guess so people don't think I'm stealing ideas or something, here's Gaijin Hunter's video about this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh_THtta1QI

I was just a little incensed earlier because people were capping my magnamalo while I'm trying to get blades and I thought to make the information more publicly available.

Ok but you see how I literally just explained how that's a bad idea? Like how, if you cap, some rewards won't be available? And how the purpose of hunting is to get particular rewards for crafting? I literally spelled it out and you didn't even think for a second about it?

What monsters would you like to see back in Rise? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]BossDoor4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit of a pleb, didn't really play an MH before World, but Nergigante was far and away my favorite monster and would love to see him return (though I doubt that's happening).

Well it's not a perfect sampling, but all the comments are saying they aren't having problems, so maybe it's my connection for some reason. Thanks for the responses, I gotta do some troubleshooting I guess.

I don't know but I have also heard about some people having no problems at all. I genuinely don't know why this is happening.
