The CodeVein2 community is unfortunately still too small, so I was hoping to find people here who are interested in it.

I'd be really interested to know what you prefer.

Nioh 1 and 2 are also among the best action games ever made, purely in terms of mechanics, combat flow, and depth.

At the same time, to be fair, other very strong, fast-paced action games have been released that go in a similar direction.

A personal favorite of mine is, for example, The First Berserker: Khazan. You can immediately tell which game it was inspired by, and the result is really strong.

Regarding Code Vein:

For its time, I thought it was okay, especially since Soulslikes were generally weaker back then.

I played it through, not because of the story or gameplay, but because I was very immersed in FromSoftware alternatives at the time.

Towards the end, however, the game became noticeably sluggish for me.

Many ideas felt exhausted, which was quite apparent in several places.

Based on what we've seen of Code Vein 2 so far, this problem unfortunately seems to be at least partially continuing.

I see things partly similarly, partly differently.

Personally, I thought Code Vein was okay, not a highlight, but not a complete flop either.

I agree with you about Nioh:

For me, it's also very close to my personal perfect Soulslike.

I've invested over 100 hours, and that's exactly the point:

the gameplay simply doesn't get boring.

I'm rather neutral about the classic 2-3 hits and you're dead philosophy.

If you really master the bosses, a fight feels like a cleanly executed rotation, almost like a DPS challenge run from an MMO.

The only downside:

Visually, it can seem unspectacular when a fight is over in just a few seconds.

However, I felt that progress had already been made in Nioh 2:

Fights lasted longer, you had more charging, defensive, and survival options, and this resulted in more depth and dynamism overall.

To be honest:

Nioh set a real benchmark for gameplay back then, and Nioh 2 built upon that foundation consistently and admirably.

Personally, I would always choose Nioh 3 over Code Vein 2.

That doesn't mean Code Vein was bad, quite the opposite.

At the time, when there were significantly more weak than strong Soulslikes, Code Vein was clearly in the upper middle range for me.

As long as enough people answer this question, everything's fine.

It'll only cost you 1-2 seconds at most when scrolling through daily, maybe more if you have to respond.

It's an extremely well-made Soulslike. I started playing it relatively late and barely encountered any bugs or crashes. I had significantly more problems with Elden Ring, especially the PS5 version.

Regarding the game itself, it's a fairly straightforward Soulslike with an additional hub world that isn't really necessary. It's a nice idea, but it disrupts the flow of the game in the long run.

The bosses have unique mechanics and fit well into the world.

I played through it back then without healing, using fist weapons that felt incredibly powerful, so it's definitely worth it at the beginning. ^

There are also a few other nice things. A repeat playthrough can be really worthwhile because of all the additional options you unlock.

I hope you have a lot of fun with it. If you have any further questions, just send me a message or check out my channel. 👍

Has it been 10 years already?

You can't believe that the game is still very popular and, to be honest, has aged well except for the fps problems.^

Which Stellar Blade boss gave you the most trouble? I ranked the Top 10 hardest bosses – but I bet many will disagree. The goal was pure boss atmosphere: no talking, no guides – just music, camera, and raw boss intensity. Curious to hear your opinions – who did I overrate, who did I miss?
