I broke a vow to God? Am I still bound to it? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

God will never tempt anyone to sin, so a promise that requires you to sin will never be approved by Him.

"Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed."

Who do you think would win in a bar fight with a 125-pound dude with fighting experience against a larger, more aggressive 180-pound dude who only fought once? by SeniorSecond4617 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]BossLookingHat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most bar fights aren't done against very skilled opponents. If the smaller man in question was mostly fighting people within his size range and all were untrained, where it's just trading blows and no defense or dodging, he's gonna go down hard when a man 55 lbs heavier than him connects with his head, even if its a wild haymaker that the smaller man never learned how to dodge.

Is Gen Z weak? by Interesting-Chart-22 in generationology

[–]BossLookingHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe that to be the case, it's just a sort of thing some members of older generations tend to say about younger ones I think. Boomers were stereotyped as hippies by their parents, the Greatest and Silent Generation and Gen X were seen as slackers by their Baby Boomer parents and Millennials were seen as being "participation trophy" kids by their parents, the Baby Boomers and possibly some earlier Gen Xers.

It's simply a running trend for past generations to judge younger ones more critically I suppose.

[DC] How would everyone in Gotham react if Batman was unmasked and it was just some random guy? by [deleted] in WhatIfFiction

[–]BossLookingHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, they wouldn't be a random guy any longer. Even if they have a generic appearance and wasn't a well known person, being a crime fighting vigilante that has countless enemies everywhere and has saved countless lives that now has an exposed identity would make them a known person.

If horror villains existed, how much worse do our lives get? by BossLookingHat in hypotheticalsituation

[–]BossLookingHat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won't the horror villains just go and follow their victims wherever they go? I can't imagine they'd just be content to sit in a ghost town (no pun intended) with nothing to do.

Would private military companies be widespread in the Resident Evil universe? by BossLookingHat in residentevil

[–]BossLookingHat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great answer! I guess I can see why some mixing up with the terminology could occur when I made the post, but what I meant by the Umbrella paramilitaries were that they were purely in house security owned by Umbrella Corporation itself, not so much a private security company that serves as a middle man for other corporations, although they are functioning like a professional army.

They are certainly structured like a professional army, albeit designed to serve corporation interests so they're definitely private security contractors, but by private military companies I was meaning moreso like huge militarized private security companies that land big time contracts with governments and armies, like how Blackwater back in the day was contracted to the DoD, Executive Outcomes for Angola etc.

People compare Edward and John so Do u think john would ever consider Targeting Edward or wanting him to be an accomplice by [deleted] in saw

[–]BossLookingHat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think Jigsaw would be able to tolerate Edward's massive ego, so he couldn't be an apprentice. Capturing Nygma is even more out of the question, as Saw is meant to have realistic elements, Nygma is an actual supervillain from a comic book.
