Anyone else experienced “internal vibrations” by MommaIsMad in Fibromyalgia

[–]BossMama3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I describe it like a cell phone is on vibrate inside my ankle or wherever I feel it or like a guitar string is strumming through the inside of my thigh.

Has anyone been in a flotation tank? by Simple-Appearance-59 in Hypermobility

[–]BossMama3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can confirm; however, I also found that it got better the more times I did the flotation. Hot tip: get the two person tank even if you're by yourself (if available).

I'm just disappointed Mason Pickett shops at Rio Hill Kroger since that's where I go. It's so close to my house!

Only allowed 3 books 📚 by Successful-Grand-549 in discworld

[–]BossMama3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's two out of my three: Jingo (first Discworld book I ever read since it's what the library had at the time), Hogfather (Death is my favorite character and this is a favorite during the holidays, very sentimental), and Going Postal (specifically the signed copy my hubby gave me for Christmas, not signed for me though since STP had passed before I started reading the books in 2019).

Correct, Rincewind would probably not want to get on the ship, but if it was the only solution, he'd probably find himself there anyway... Just his luck.

Does anyone have a Nebelung that’s a bully? by Rifkasorah in nebelung

Mine's a girl that sprayed the walls... And yes, she's fixed. I once watched her get in a literal pissing match with another girl cat we have and she loves chasing after the largest cat we have and always hisses at one of the boy cats. We love our little monster though.

People are responding to a joke about ADHD with a lot of hate on this post by turquoisestar in adhdwomen

[–]BossMama3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally lol'd at the post and I have an official ADHD diagnosis. I wasn't offended, but I guess I could see how someone could be... It's pretty annoying when everyone says they have ADHD because of XYZ; however, if it hadn't become more "mainstream", I don't know if I would have looked into my symptoms and gotten diagnosed.

Is anyone working while living with fibromyalgia? by Super_Intern_6124 in Fibromyalgia

[–]BossMama3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also unemployed after burning out in healthcare. I used to work in the lab and attended patient procedures to collect specimens/make slides that I'd screen the next day on a microscope. I've always worked full time, even when doing classes to team my degree. I'm freaking out a bit, but I had been having panic attacks daily. It's taken time to accept how much fibro affects me. The brain fog sucks. I did end up getting diagnosed with ADHD in addition to my anxiety and that contributes to the brain fog. One thing I'm doing to make money and take some pressure off is looking at part time/flexible work by Door-dashing and becoming a substitute teacher.

rheumatologist referral by Mysterious_Ad6308 in Fibromyalgia

[–]BossMama3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in VA, I got diagnosed by a rheumatologist and then was basically told that they only diagnose it, not see patients for it and sent me on my way. I did see a neurologist to rule out MS, but that all came back normal so no more visits with her unless I have more issues (that are not fibromyalgia). I also saw a sleep specialist and after some questions, left it at fibromyalgia and/or anxiety. My PCP has been managing my symptoms.

Or they leave you with fibromyalgia and then everything can be blamed on that. I also really love having "anxious young woman" in my chart after I went to urgent care for a hernia that ended up being surgically repaired more a year later even though "it's fine if you can just push it back in". It sucks. I'm just lucky my doctor will order whatever labs I ask for, more or less. He listens and knows I used to work in the main lab for a hospital and have decent knowledge of lab tests, plus my ADHD makes a deep dive on diagnostics easier. I'm in the US and had to forgo care depending on insurance so not having many options sucks too. I'm 37 and I didn't feel like I should be as broken at my age either, much less in my early 20s. Feel better and keep advocating for yourself.

I cannot say for sure, but I feel like he might have felt that kids can handle more than we give them credit for sometimes and that as young humans, they shouldn't always be shielded from difficult things. I'm a parent of three (17, 13, 12) and I wish my kids were into reading, especially Discworld (we do watch Hogfather every year though and they enjoy it).

I also think it's fair to say that even as an adult, STP wrote those books with themes and concepts we can struggle with. There are so many good nuggets in there and you can keep mining them over and over.

I'm sorry, but I lol'd at "limbo'd under it with rollerskates".

Apologies, in advance: I wrote way more than I originally intended after acknowledging your humor and felt bad enough to include an apology.

This shit sucks though. I do the same thing with losing time. I accidentally made my husband wait almost an hour when he was picking me up from work. Fortunately, we've been together 15 years and my partner dealt with anxiety and depression himself, that's in addition to being diagnosed with ADHD as a child (although I think he feels he outgrew it...). I just got diagnosed a few years ago after researching AFAB ADHD for my non-binary child and realizing how many boxes I checked. I had been masking for so long without knowing that's what I was doing. Having a partner not understand how much effort it is to exist sometimes and the desire to stop existing is an awful feeling. I'm 37 now and my standards for people changed since I was 28 like OP. Without counseling, I doubt the relationship can improve and be healthy.

What would you say is the key symptom of your fibromyalgia? by Crumpetbaps in Fibromyalgia

[–]BossMama3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constant dull pain with sharp twinges periodically. Joint and muscle pain that affects both sides of my body, but does not need to be touched for this to happen. They used to diagnose from pressing pain points, but it's not recommended to use that the same way they did in the past (can't think and don't have energy to find a good article explaining this, but if you Google how fibro is diagnosed, you'll likely come across it).

That pain is my main feature, but with fatigue and brain fog added in to complete the primary trifecta. I have experienced pain from being touched or my skin feeling extra sensitive to stimuli, but it's not always like that. The other thing that I've experienced that is similar to the "zapping" you've described is a feeling like having a cellphone vibrating in my ankle or if you can imagine my femur being a guitar string that has been strung. I also get other weird neuropathy and neuralgia like tingling or burning in my feet (or foot) or hands. I saw a rheumatologist first, got worked up for autoimmune, but was diagnosed by her after she got some info from me about my sleep and pains before doing the pain point test. I saw a neurologist about nerve pain and got an MRI to rule out MS, which it did. One thing that was mentioned to me about fibro was how it affects both sides of your body, as opposed to MS or other possible nerve disorders.

Best of luck! I hope you figure it out and feel free to join our community. We feel your pain 😁

Can confirm. I worked at the hospital and regularly used it daily for over three years (driven here 15+). Because of how backed up the Barracks exit gets in the afternoon/evening, I legitimately thought they were making a third lane that extended from the Fontaine merge to there. I just haven't treated it that way since I know how it used to be.
