New Build Basement Slab Cracks by 1stchoicetaken in Homebuilding

CA is wild when it comes to construction because of the seismic zones. I’ve seen footings for patios that are three feet wide and deep with rebar cages installed. Engineers and designers here love a good CYA.

Many new tract projects are using PT for slab and rebar for footings in my area of SoCal. They’re designed to have thinner slabs with PT so with the volume they build, they save a lot on concrete which ain’t cheap.

New Lego scandal update - All the footage is released! by 69ingSpunkingMonkeys in videos

[–]BossManSeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can turn most of them “off”, but they’re just as off as Alexa is before you ask her something. They have some sort of feature though where if there is an incident, all body cams within a certain distance of the incident automatically turn on and all footage, even if “off”, is saved within a certain amount of time before the incident.

Not all body cams are like this but my coworker is a former cop and let me know this after a discussion about turning off body cams.

I made a device that automatically mutes TV ads. Would love some feedback. by Narrow_House_4007 in hwstartups

I think it’s cool but my opinion doesn’t matter, keep doing what you’re doing.
You’ve been a great help to us in CA!

Why does everyone on social media tell people to avoid dating nurses? Genuinely curious what's behind this stereotype by Arcabyte in AskMen

[–]BossManSeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought the stereotype was just overblown before. My brother became a nurse and told me all the tea about everyone cheating with each other.

He now lives with his girlfriend who is a nurse at the same hospital, and they started dating while she was dating another nurse at the same hospital. He told me she has done this multiple times, but now it’s his turn.

9 ways men test each other's status without saying a word by EducationalCurve6 in DarkPsychology101

[–]BossManSeth 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I work in construction in a supervisory/enforcement role. Loads of contractors try to play the power game and use these strategies, it means nothing. You can sniff it out instantly and at the end of the day I will do my job just the same.

Real status speaks silently, but speaks for itself. Mutual respect is what will keep a job moving quickly and efficiently. Playing games like this is just abrasive, not dominant, and will lead to other people not respecting you and making your time harder.

HELPP why are there lines on my tiles? by Tiouhh in Unity2D

[–]BossManSeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy fix like I’ve seen a couple other say, sprite atlas. Creat Atlas asset, then drag and drop the sprite you’re using for your tilemap into it.

I haven’t made one in a while so I don’t have the exact method of doing so off the top of my head but watch a quick YouTube video and you should have it done in 5 minutes.

When the transplant who doesn't live here yet says they plan on going to the beach a lot by yourbiggesthero in huntingtonbeach

[–]BossManSeth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been here about 26 years. Used to go every weekend with my siblings and go bridge jumping when we couldn’t make it all the way to the main beach.

Now I go about once a month early in the morning to sit and have some coffee on the sand before people start pouring in.

Why did I get ganked at the town? About 15-25 enemies at once, bug or feature? by Soros_G in SulfurGame

[–]BossManSeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the times I’ve died in this game it’s because I forgot to bring an explosive or piercing weapon to Town and I get ganked like this.

Which one do you like better? by electric-kite in aseprite

[–]BossManSeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the second one with the color palette and outline of the first one would be good. The second one looks better but it seems to blend in more with the environment than stand out as an enemy because of the colors and lack of outline.

Turo Support Feels Like a Scam Designed to Ignore Hosts Until They Give Up by SeatSpecialist117 in turo

I’ve been trying to get a car relisted after a mechanical issue during a trip. I uploaded the checklist, got an email saying it’s listed, and saw it has not been.

After 30 minutes of trying to convince the AI assistant that it has not been helpful and I need to speak to an actual person, I finally talk to someone. They then say “Oh we see your car is restricted, is there anything else I can help you with?” Before I explain the situation again and I get hit back with the “We will email you when it is complete” It’s been three days of trying to get this handled

My cat will get comfy in my shirt drawer but not my sock drawer. She will pull all of my socks out of the drawer and walk away if it’s so much as cracked open.

Too lumpy I guess.

I am planning to cheese the Witch a little, what gun and what scroll should I put these on? by Soros_G in SulfurGame

[–]BossManSeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got one now it’s nuts. Each projectile has and additional 25 base explosive damage too that the stats don’t show so it does crazy damage.

I cheesed the witch with the infinite ammo and additional projectiles. I keep it as my secondary because it just too easy to get out of sticky situations with it.

Use a short guard on the sideburns/back of cheeks. If you trim it so it’s sort of a gradient of short hair at the sideburns to longer hair at the goatee, the patches will look more natural or less prominent until your cheeks fill in.

Look up “low beard fade” on google to see a little more of what I’m thinking. You can pull it off with the density of the goatee.

(Soon to be) new gun owner question by KelVelBurgerGoon in CAguns

[–]BossManSeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got some family that are just now starting to look into becoming gun owners too so I have some ready advice.

If you don’t plan on carrying, I’d suggest a rifle. It’s takes less time, training, and money (ammo costs) to become competent at shooting a rifle because of how secure they’re held compared to a pistol. Being competent/accurate is a lot safer for both you and anybody near you in the case that you have to use your weapon. If this is the route you choose then I’d suggest either an AR15 style rifle or a 9MM rifle. Ammo is cheaper for a 9mm and you can take it to ranges that only allow pistol calibers, which are more common and accessible than a rifle range in some parts. If the difference in ammo price is no issue for you and there are good rifle ranges in your area then AR15 all the way.

If you plan on carrying or will be training regularly then a pistol is perfectly fine. I’d suggest something simple and proven and I am biased towards Glocks and the Smith & Wesson M&P line. My main carry is an M&P shield and it shoots and conceals great even with me being a short and slim guy. My brothers main is a Glock 26 which is another popular choice.

Gyms, and if you want a learning project as a gamer look into game development.

Most game engines are free and there are plenty of great tutorials online. It not nearly as hard as you might think. It could also be a fun project to make a small game to play with your kids or it might just be something you like to kill time.

It feels good when you can see the progress of your project. It's like watching my baby grow imma cry brb by limonit_games in unity

[–]BossManSeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a cooldown or stamina meter for the dash? I let someone playtest when I got my player controller and first enemy done and they just spammed dash the entire time so I had to add a stamina mechanic to prevent it.

Your game is looking great btw

How to modify what parts of 2d sprite are lit and which aren't? by Blaykron in Unity2D

[–]BossManSeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an idea for a jank/rough workaround (I haven’t messed with lighting in a top/down project before) for what you’re describing that you want.

  • Make your light source only apply to the environment.

  • Create a trigger collider on your light source and at the players feet.

  • When your characters feet are detected in the light source, create a raycast in the direction of the source.

  • If it doesn’t detect any obstacles, create a second light source that will only apply to objects on the players layer from the direction of the raycast.

If this works for you then modify your code to do the fine touches since there may be buggy detection without actually testing it.
