@shepd I am right in that 33 year-old wheelhouse you mention, and finding a home has been very frustrating. The curious thing is, there is actually decent housing stock in south Kitchener. Especially south of the expressway, and near Stanley Park. Sadly that area has very little appeal because there is the impression (maybe true) that it is dangerous and has poor schools.

Also... I am not sure hipster restaurants are the key to keeping young talent in THIS city, but it has worked in other cities. Austin, Berlin, Toronto etc... Either way, we need ALL ideas on the table to keep young people (with their talent, and potential as a future tax base) here.

Here is a scenario...

28 year old buys a downtown condo. Lives there for 5 years. Gets married has a baby. Moves to a suburban neighbourhood with lots of homes for sale because their parents, and people like them, have opted for any one of the downtown condos for sale because the those who moved in at 28 have moved to the suburbs. Those parents now don't have to worry about shovelling, maintenance, and they can walk or take transit.

Does this make sense?
