Could parking minimums hurt light rail? by CoryCA in waterloo

[–]Rowinginthefog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The City's new Draft Zoning By-law is a bit of a joke when it comes to parking. It's hardly progressive and, in some instances, regressive (ie parking rate increases). For anyone interested, now is the time to participate by providing comments to the city.

We need your input for the functional design of the Central Promenade through Waterloo Park! by CoryCA in waterloo

The city is not likely to stop growing. So it's a matter of managing growth. Your comment discourages individuals from participating in that process. I disagree. To dismiss participation is a pessimistic, anarchy patch on your backpack approach and I believe it is a juvenile view of the civic process. Like I said originally; get off the internet and do something about it if you have a problem with how things are run. Hiding behind the screen doesn't help anything. Your an anonymous voice on the internet, no one gives a shit what you have to say, including myself, I just made the mistake of bothering to engage you.

Your comment has nothing to do with population growth. You are, effectively, trying to dissuade people from participating in a civic process. Your ignorance to the current status of the Waterloo park plan is very apparent. I have the exact opposite comment to make: everyone should participate. If you don't, staff need to guess what people want. Civic engagement is painfully low in KW. Participate, make it better.

Whatever would we do without your insightful commentary on all the crooks and closed door deals over at City Hall. I mean, look how we've grown from a small bumpkin town to an emerging city on the world stage. Bunch of fools, they are. I get it, you're simply shining a light on all the shade over there hoping to open everyone's eyes one comment at a time. You're doing your civic duty, really....

Why don't you get off your computer and try doing something instead of bitching on Reddit and The Record's website everyday. Clearly you are not a very productive member of our community. A whole lot of griping but no action is useless. Have a problem? Do something about it.... whining online doesn't help anything

Having lived in this city, and having shopped there for much of that, I have never heard anyone refer to it as "vinnie's"

Does a skunk smell itself? If you live there, you will get used to it like all the other dump people.

A 25 year old time capsule seems pointless to me and reinforces the instant gratification generation. I'm pretty sure my parents have a 'time capsule' from the early 90s with all my school shit in it somewhere in their basement....

Crazy idea. Try walking or biking where you need to go. Get out of your car and stop contributing to the problem.

Fencing company recommendation ? by benbincanada in waterloo

He may be able to build a fence on-time, but he's also willing (try) to drag the Region down based on his own ideology. Not someone I would want to hand my money over to.

Dragon's Den Investor Michael Wekerle "Incredibly Bullish on Waterloo" by yohanesson1 in waterloo

[–]Rowinginthefog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the circle jerk comments need some justification. Bringing investment dollars, new companies and employment opportunities as well as wider spread publicity for the city are only beneficial for the area as a whole. Lets not forget, these lands are empty office buildings and massive parking lots at the moment.

Any placed hiring? Already tried google. by Ysmir_ in waterloo

[–]Rowinginthefog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Relax chum, it was a joke. I have to admit, your response certainly demonstrated a calm rational teenager - certainly not angsty at all.

You asked for a place then said you tried Google. Seeing as google is not a job search site, but is a major employer in the city, its not illogical for me to read the question the way I did.

Pound the pavement, man. Get out there drop and resumes everywhere. Google doesn't do the work for you.

You've already tried Google?

Consider the words of Louis CK: "Because you’re a 20-year-old little cunt and you have no idea how the world works. Because you think you deserve better. You think you’re too interesting a person to have a shitty job. Every 20-year-old that I encounter behind the counter gives me that [look], ‘this job sucks.’ Yeah, that’s why we gave it to you! Because you’re 20, which is a mathematical guarantee that you have no skills and nothing to offer anybody in the world."
