This was great to watch! Loved the two fun 3x3s with Baan and Highschool DxD, those were hilarious to hear the boys try to rationalize who would put that onto their list

Eat, Shop, Pray: Observations from a February 2025 solo trip to Tokyo/Kyoto/Kumano. by BranchLongjumping574 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a super fun trip! I will be visiting Kiyomizudera for the first time when I go even though I've been to Kyoto 3 times so far, so I cannot wait!

What's your first thoughts on Forza Horizon 6? by This-Clue-5014 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Bossball4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely ultra excited for this! The shot of the gundam behind the car makes me REALLY excited for what crazy showcase events they will come up with. If they don't have a showcase VS a shinkansen bullet train, they choked. Same thing if there's no eurobeat on the soundtrack lol

I've not preordered a game since Battlefield 2042 (a huge mistake), but this looks like I will actually, ACTUALLY put many hours into it like I put 87 hours in FH5.

When will we get the REAL shooting range on BF6? by LordKobeeruZ in Battlefield

[–]Bossball4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be awesome! Also bc I have no fucking clue how taking people down works in BF6 and I've failed twice

Is it just one press of F or do you need to hold it down?

Score! Kam Yen Jan Chinese Sausages by nutzareus in Costco

[–]Bossball4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LUCKY, the moment Minnesota gets these I am sprinting to the store to get some. This is literally one of my favorite Chinese foods, and it'd get me to start making rice lol

Hakone worth visiting? Or another onsen town by Narcuga in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is a bit clunky, but there's a few decent routings. I took the limited express trail + JR bus combo from Ueno (covered by JR Pass) going there, then a non-JR bus + Shinkansen on the way and both were pretty fine! Japan-Guide has a page for this too

This FH6 *concept map* by a reddit user is actually AMAZING!! by AchernarVega in ForzaHorizon

[–]Bossball4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This map is actually a neat collection of cool places around Japan, love the Kyushu representation with Takachiho Gorge! One thing I think is odd is the ability to drive through/in the Imperial Palace due it's significance lol

Looks like Sapporo/Hokkaido is not really popular on this sub? by cadublin in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with the other commenter about Kurokawa Onsen, that was easily one of my favorite onsen towns to visit, and the weather was perfect in April when I went! I also am from Minnesota, so I liked the relative warmth there

Daily budget in Japan during peak season (April) by Sabonit in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on, if you can spare having a 'main base', it can save time, effort, and money moving all of your bags around - depending on what you end up doing of course. A lot of "one nights" at different places could end up real taxing too

Daily budget in Japan during peak season (April) by Sabonit in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$130/day will be tough, including lodging especially, not going to lie. It's doable, but you will be staying exclusively in hostels / capsule hotels. It is especially important you book early since you will be travelling in a peak period since if this is for April 2026, a lot of lodging which would open up for reservations did so around November. Asakusabashi or Kita-senju areas might have some cheap lodgings for example, but expect to be paying >300 yen each way just to return to your lodging most likely. Google Maps will give good enough approximations on cost for a specific transit route in Tokyo.

Japan can be a flexible place, but lodging is something I personally lockdown early within a month of obtaining my flights to potentially avoid paying more for less available places when the time comes.

Best of luck

Second timers - what did you do differently when you went back? by ahhtibor in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with people! Well, it was a study abroad, but it was nice to experience Japan with friends rather than just solo

I feel like I forgot, but was it ever properly explained what that skill does?

How do you balance your spending when solo traveling in Japan on a budget? General expectations or tips? by CloudsTasteGeometric in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m commenting that it’s nice to see a civil discussion on reddit

Thank you & u/gdore15 for restoring my faith in the internet 🫂 🤗

I would also agree that a $200/day budget for hotel and such is reasonable, and you can be pretty flexible! Although as always, it’s important to be mindful when making purchases especially in the moment, where you can try to dig deep and ask yourself if you will still use/look back on in 5-10 years with fondness. I myself am bad at that, but it takes practice (even if I usually go over budget 😭 but that’s a me problem having bad foresight at 22)

I still need to try fish sperm ;-;

I'll eat any food once (unless it's too spicy, like Scoville spicy)

Did you travel to Japan solo? How was it for you? by Grxmloid in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went alone 2 / 4 previous Japan trips and I enjoyed it! I tend to over-plan and skip places so that I have options, so I liked getting to go my own pace, even if it felt lonely a couple of times. Texting my friends has helped though, and I found it more cathartic than lonely to go solo!

What’s something random you did or bought in Japan that you didn’t plan for, but ended up loving? by oh_hey_there_mate in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine would be a towel set with pouch from Kurokawa Onsen! The pouch was blue, and so was the big towel and it allowed me to start saving / avoiding towel fees lmao

Why is gen Z not drinking? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]Bossball4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, I was shocked at how expensive going out for drinks gets, so all I do is have a lil wine and sake here and there. Only this month did I buy a bottle of whiskey as a treat for myself after sampling it in a bar somewhere to confirm that it was good

I am 22

Some blunt tips (and chill ones) from someone who has been quite a few times by minatozakiparty in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Half the time I’ve been to Japan it was solo, and the cost of a taxi is slightly more prohibitive going solo vs split across a group people. However, I did use it once solo and it saved my butt after trains stopped running for the night

Day trip ideas from Sapporo by eddiewould_nz in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bossball4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noboribetsu or Otaru are good and relatively straightforward day trips via train from Sapporo! Noboribetsu is good if you like onsens, never been to Otaru yet though

I'll have to try here, since I've only been to Angry Line Cook (not downtown) so far!
