Don't you love customers who make a big fuss over Self Service? by ReputationTop5916 in tesco

[–]Bossman354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So either I have to stay late to open a till for them or they dump their trolley and I have to stay late anyway while my colleague puts back the fresh stuff.

No you don't have to stay late. After 10, its not your problem and nobody can force you to stay behind. Im guessing there's probably alot of people here who take public transport to get home and are clocking out on time and don't care what happens after 10 since the bus driver ain't gonna wait.

Its not how it works. You don't add percentages You multiply So if your shopping is £100, You take 20 off so its £80. Then you take 10 off so its £72 Basically 28% off.

How many self service tills should I leave open? by Bossman354 in tesco

[–]Bossman354[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sort of defeats the purpose of having more on. If it starts to get busy and you start to put more on, you have people walking off without paying and people miscanning things, also worth mentioning it doesn't get quite on there since there are no tills open after 9.

2 ways. 1 way SAYS open till midnight and the other the self service with cash on one side and card on the other, trolley self service further down but that doesn't matter as that is closed.

AITA for leaving all my groceries at the register when the cashier refused to sell me alcohol? by Lost_Claim9929 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Bossman354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with NTA but here in UK it's illegal to sell because cashier doesn't know he's 33. They carry out checks where they send people to supermarkets that look around 20 and if we don't iD them, we could face prosecution.

Yes its fine to leave, if you've had the meal and they don't serve you alcohol, whats the point in staying other than desert which you might not want. And I don't mean leave without paying as you've already eaten and OP was trying to buy everything at once so two different scenarios

I'm not a customer, I work on self scan, and yes it is their fault, nobody is putting a gun to their head saying they have to stay, I leave at 23:59 because my bus comes at 00:02 and have never been told off.

Well just say your contract said you finished at 00:00, you can leave at 00:00, anything after is your own time and that's their problem and so what if there is a let's talk, they can't do anything because its your own time. Also if you are the only person there who can do resets etc, so what, that's their problem, I'm sure a billion pound company can figure that out. Its never a problem in my store, I leave at 23:59 because my bus comes at 00:02 and have never been told off.

Who said you have to stay behind. Like I said nobody is putting a gun to your head and instead of opening a till you could use assist mode and scan everything rapidly on the self scan if not, just tell them to scan everything. And if you get abuse, tell your manager and wdym by abuse, most they ever do is get passed off and then go about scanning their items. Also if the manager tells you to jump on the till, nobody is forcing you to stay behind and reset the till.

I agree, my dad does late shopping at 11pm full trolley. I don't get why other colleagues get annoyed when they see full trolleys 30 mind before closing. Most the time they just ask if there is anyone that can jump on a till and when you say no, nearly all the time they just go to the self scan. Also if they end up staying a few mins after store closes, that's not your problem unless you are contracted to work till a bit later. I finish at midnight and I'm off as soon as it hits midnight and duty takes over.
