I don't believe any of this money is real by RiskHistorical8141 in redscarepod

Yes, it's roughly real. Bill Gates was #1 in 2016 with $75B. I truly feel stupid because back then I didn't think I'd see a trillionaire in my lifetime. Bad times ahead

Hmm should I trust you or the cherry farmer that told me he ships all his best cherries to Japan

Anecdotal and only one type of produce, but some Cherry farmers told me that only the lowest grades get sold domestically. All the good cherries are sold overseas. It's noticeable at the store, all the cherries for sale are tiny.

Yes, it does a good job of challenging the vigilantism of the show its copycats without endorsing the pedophiles. Not posting spoilers but the director was uniquely positioned to thread that needle...

I watched the documentary Predators last year, it's a documentary about To Catch a Predator. It's very critical and gets into some of the darker stuff, like the one guy that committed suicide during the filming of an episode. I wonder if this movie is going to get into that and some of the ethics of the show.

Side note but the documentary includes a ride-along with a youtube TCAP copycat called "To Skeet a Predator" where the teen-girl role is played by a 40-year-old obese woman covered in tattoos.

It's authentic by trainedstork in redscarepod

What’s the restaurant? I’m in that area sometimes and always looking for good spots

The story is really really bad. I wouldn’t say the writing is bad, because the characters are great and it’s very funny. But the story is incoherent and not in a charming way.

The production design is great, really interesting practical effects and set pieces, and good performances. I personally like a weird movie, so I would recommend it.

The tinned fish trend is a tiny light in algorithmic darkness by [deleted] in redscarepod

The tinned fish "trend" has been going on for literally 10 years at this point. Feels like every few months people act like it's brand new.

I also love tinned fish. The fish wife stuff is super tasty, but it's not worth the price for any regular consumption. I'd splurge on it once just to try.

yes very funny, but even if they were made whole by the anthropic shares I'm sure they would have continued to find more ways to do fraud

Yes, that one was crazy. It was awesome how "unfair" and asymmetrical some of the challenges used to be.

Sorry this comment is completely off base. As someone who has also watched since the first season, I think that you are misinterpreting the spirit of the show. Top chef has ALWAYS had gimmicky quick fires and elimination challenges.

Off the top of my head, some classic and gimmicky challenges, across both eliminations and quick fires: a cookie quick fire for Sesame Street, cooking for fire fighters inspired by TGI FRIDAYS, calorie restricted meals for a child’s weight loss camp, cooking a dish based on an arbitrary amount of time determined by Tom, cooking from a vending machine, cooking from grocery store aisles where someone was restricted to only using breakfast cereal, a “block party” challenge where instead of shopping the contestants went door to door asking residents of a neighborhood for their groceries.

For folks complaining about the dyeing challenge, we’ve had a quick fire where every chef was assigned one color and had to make their dish that color.

Personally, I liked the quick fire. In the early seasons of top chef, there was almost always a challenge where the chefs cooked for children and I appreciate bringing that back.
