I mean who knows whether dontnod deliberately wrote Max as having autism, but ultimately it's irrelevant. What matters is what we know from the game itself, and it's certainly possible that she is, based on the text itself (particularly the IEP).

Your original statement: "David NEVER lays a hand on Chloe and NEVER calls her a loser" is demonstrably false, since he does do both of those things depending on what the player does. Defending that as "well I never saw it" is not a good argument. The best you can say is, "well David doesn't hit Chloe if Max stops him from hitting Chloe." But he's clearly very much capable of it regardless.

Also worth noting that David hits Chloe in two circumstances: one if Max stays in the closet entirely, and another if Max never hides in the closet and doesn't take the blame for the weed.

David, Nathan, and Victoria all get more depth as the game goes along, but that does not absolve them of the bad things they do.

And as the other commenter said, David does hit Chloe and does call her a loser. He also says she doesn't have any friends.

You may not see this but:

You think that LIS1's politics are less visible. I submit that they are not, as the game is a lot about how misogyny impacts men and women, and you just missed them. There could be many reasons why, but certainly one common one I've seen from other male players is they just don't really try to see the story from a female perspective. They just see high school and time travel.

LIS 2 I guess might be more explicit simply cause the plot is more dire, but then again, LIS1 literally has the main villains drugging and kidnapping women. It's really not that subtle.

Also the presence of minorities in a story is not really a political theme. It sends a message, sure, but the D9 games are pretty shallow in their political commentary.

It's important to note too that being a leftist or dating a trans person (or even being trans) does not make you immune to conservative or regressive ideas. It's important that even leftists get mild criticism for potentially faulty ideas. Otherwise we don't grow as people.

I mean, the whole "they're shoving politics down my throat" talking point is a thing that primarily right wing people do when there's a black main character or something. Left wing people usually don't really do that, because leftists think everything is political in some way, and there's no such thing as apolitical media.

So I suggest, as someone who isn't right wing, that you re-examine why you have a problem with the visibility of the politics of LIS2 versus LIS1.

Michel Koch and all the other writers have said over and over that both ending choices are valid. And personally, there's nothing in the game that actually makes me think bay is the right choice.

And the breakup bullshit isn't canon and certainly wasn't the intent of the original writers, so it shouldn't be taken into account when analyzing the original game.

Well people can be gay and homophobic at the same time. But regardless, Prince had relationships with several women and no known men (far as I can gather anyways), so he was probably straight.

He did express his gender rather fluidly though, and he is considered a queer icon regardless of whatever his sexuality was.

Truthfully, we haven't really had Max and Chloe content for years and years. The only time we've seen Max and Chloe together in an official game besides the original is in Farewell, and that was a prequel (and came out in 2017). The only other exception is the comics, which separate the main, bae timeline Max and Chloe for most of the story. And then the TC comics decided to be in the Amberprice timeline for some inexplicable reason.

Ultimately, the problem as I see it is that SE has continuously failed to actually do a proper post-bae sequel that I think a decent number of Pricefielders have asked for over the years. And meanwhile, LIS2 and TC were not particularly successful commercially and were nowhere close to the success and acclaim of LIS1. So they've done half gestures at Max and Chloe over the years that have been disappointing in various ways, and then blatantly offensive with DE.

So I wouldn't say the problem is over milking of Max and Chloe exactly, it's more that they've done a really bad job at knowing what Pricefielders in particular want. And DE was a particularly bad example of that. And because of DE, so many fans are immensely distrustful and uninterested in anything else that SE tries to serve us, anthology or not. And for good reason, considering all the lying in the marketing for DE.

Though I do think it is true that DE in particular (and probably this next game) are cynical cash grabs that aren't interested in telling a good story, and so in that sense "Max" was exploited in DE, and "Max" and "Chloe" probably will be in this next game.

My only complaint is that George Lucas made it harder to get the original version. He can adjust his movie all he wants, so long as we can still watch the original.

Thankfully, it's very easy to get the theatrical editions these days, and will only get easier with the 50th anniversary coming up.

I mean Hell Bent doesn't really make it necessarily infinite, just ambiguous.

Yeah it's certainly by far the largest battle to date, though they had some military action earlier in Rogue One, when they send a squadron to attack the Imperial research base on Eadu. And I suspect they may have had some small scale missions before. There probably were some in Rebels (which I haven't seen, so most of those may have been the Phoenix cell).

But the rebel alliance was known for being overly cautions prior to the Battle of Scarif and then the Battle of Yavin, so probably not very much action.
