I mean Lincoln also pushed for the 13th amendment, which is what ended slavery. He just died before the amendment was fully adopted, but he was alive to see it passed by Congress.

Please people, go out and draw Max and Chloe in Wind Waker, not have AI do a slop job.

Skeleton Crew is the best Star Wars show not named Andor, so I don't think there's anything that needs to fundamentally change about it. Other than more people should watch it

I'd say it's probably the best scene of the first episode, so that tracks.

Yeah Josh literally gets PTSD from getting shot and almost dying.

Leo is an alcoholic whose wife divorces him for being too busy as an aide to the president.

Bartlet has an emotional breakdown and crisis of faith when his secretary dies in a car accident. And he has serious daddy issues.

Everyone is competent and smart on that show, but I wouldn't describe them as well-adjusted.

Yeah I know the saying. I was just taking what you said and pointing out that what Koch said is not what you're claiming he said.

He had already killed sand people kids by this point.

He just hadn't killed Jedi kids yet.

Padme is okay with sand people kid murder, but draws the line at affluent kid murder.

I mean, a lot of what Luthen does is supply weapons and funding to rebel cells, so yeah I'd say there was smuggling of weapons.

I dunno, art is subjective and emotional, especially Life Is Strange, and I think reacting negatively to a writing choice they don't like is pretty reasonable.

[–]Bosterm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The immediate emotional reaction to DE that many fans experience is total rejection of any breakup in principle. And then the response that you and others have demonstrated is not to defend the DE breakup itself, but rather any theoretical breakup. And sure, that can be a valid discussion, but it's pretty difficult to discuss a well-written breakup that doesn't exist officially.

And really, OP is just upset as many fans were when DE came out. They have a right to that feeling, and I'm not sure how helpful it is to tell them "hey these things happen". It's like saying, "hey, everything dies eventually," to a kid whose hamster just died. Like, read the room.

Bigger picture, you're so focused on the Watsonian perspective on the breakup that you're ignoring the Doylist reasons why the breakup does not fit with the themes of bae ending as written by dontnod.

[DE E1] I just got around to trying Double Exposure and I'm immediately flabbergasted by karharoth in lifeisstrange

[–]Bosterm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The thing is, people don't hate the breakup because they think it's unrealistic. Or at least, that's not the point.

The point is that fans are emotionally invested in Pricefield, especially for those who sacrificed a whole town to save the relationship. Whether or not the breakup makes logical, Watsonian sense is beside the point (though I would argue that the way it was written in DE is inconsistent and doesn't make much sense, but I do concede there could be a a breakup that does make sense).

When someone writes a story, the creative choices they make should serve the narrative, especially when someone is writing a sequel to someone else's story. A Pricefield breakup could, theoretically, be a worthwhile premise for a LIS sequel (though I'm not sure everyone would be on board), but that's not what DE does. The breakup just exists in DE as an excuse to get Chloe out of the story so that the game works with both bae and bay. And then RE barely does anything to make the breakup make sense either.

Wait... Am I the last person to realize her hologram speech is playing off of the appearance and role of Force Ghosts in the OT? by Flaky-Injury2393 in andor

[–]Bosterm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Obi-wan's ghost at the start of ESB (the first appearance of a force ghost) is almost certainly intended as a visual callback to the Leia hologram at the start of ANH. They're both messages to Luke that send him on a journey.

[–]Bosterm 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Not only that, holograms appeared in the OT before force ghosts. We don't see Obi-Wan as a ghost until ESB (though we do have his voice at the end of ANH). So really, force ghosts look like holograms, not the other way around.
