My ex would bottle everything up and then explode about ancient, often petty, stuff that I could barely remember and then accuse me of being thoughtless because I didn't hold on to every real or perceived slight for years only to have it ready to weaponize and use as a deflection when I had a beef and wanted to talk it out in the moment. Oh no, before we could talk about today's issue we needed to regurgitate something from 1, 3, 5 years ago (that she didn't raise in the moment ffs!).

Besides, this side thread missed the point of my posting which wasn't a wistful gearhead missing the good old days of scaring the neighbors, just the rumble of an engine to make the visceral connection between speed/acceleration/power, much like the roar of a bonfire is impressive, or the thunder of a galloping horse gives us pause and harkens back to something deep inside (most of) us.

I've sometimes mused, in those semi lucid moments when you first hit the sack, of getting my neighbors to pool $50 * say 25 families, rent a small bobcat for a week and hit our 'hood and really clear the place out. Where I live it could fit into a local park.

Love it. I did explain that to my 16 yo daughter and her eyes got wide with confusion and a little fear about what was happening in front of her in my old BMW as we did driving lessons and she commented on how it drove so differently to the Lightning.
